Why do they push the wireless boxes when you want the hard wired?

When I came back to At&t I was doing just great (with the exception of Slow internet speed) But when I went in to get a new phone the girl offered Direct TV for cheaper. Well who doesn't want a cheaper bill and she also said that my internet would be faster. I guess she was told to say that and didn't really know the facts. The internet wasn't faster and she said my bill would be $20 dollars cheaper. Well the bill was $141 and came in at $234. From what I could figure they are charging a separate bill for the internet and Phone from at&t and the Direct TV. It took me three days to go thru the channels on the menu and 1 to 100 aren't HD but some had decent picture. the 200s most were HD about 48 were good to watch. I found 23 were the same on different channels. So 46 of these channels and infomercials, I mean how many vacuums cleaners and copper pots can you buy. There was supposed to be 185 channels and about 80 watchable. I called three days later to switch back and they told me I had 24 hrs. to do that. I said that's not right and my husband had some other words. But I finally got ahold of a Retention Dept. that sent them out to switch me back after numerous calls. And being told I would have to pay $480 plus other charges at the last conversation at $555. to switch back. So I am going to have to live with blurry channels and lost channels. I will never go with Direct TV. Its garbage to try to watch and I went thru three guys coming out to tell me that it was just the way it is. Now I have the U-Verse back and he insisted on putting in the wireless. I said no I want it just like it was and no more problems. Well he proceeded to put in wireless and it is shuddering every now and then. I do know computers and wireless is ok for your phone but not the TVs in your house. So there will be yet another call to have them back and put the hard wired boxes back in. Oh I tried to keep my old system and they said no you will be given new boxes. I said why when I am just switching back to them. It took fighting with them for 3 weeks. I hope you all learn from my mistakes. I can't wait to see what my next Bill will be.........Thank you and Good luck Oh and remember we all pay a month in advance for these company's. I called my 89 yr old Mom and she pays thru auto pay and she said she never looks at it well her bill has gone up to $326. a month. and she didn't know it.

for what its worth, you can plug the wireless boxes into the router and make them wired.... at least you used to.

I've never had problems with a box just because it's wireless.  *shrug*

Well I made them put a wired box in the garage for my husband so the modem does have the wired hookup but only one of the other boxes have a cable hookup. I seems like they want you to constantly call them back out but then again they have to be paid. Because if they eliminated the boxes what would happen then. For starters we wouldn't have to ask to be transferred to talk to someone in the Great USA instead of the Cayman Islands or Philippines where they are being paid Penney's to work. And half the time they don't even know what they are talking about.

The first thing I ask now is where are you located.

Did you know that the more devices connected the slower speeds will be? Did you know that each device connected shares a portion of your total speed? Did you know that wired and wireless speeds can differ?

Depending on the plan you have and the # of devices you have connected, will determine your streaming quality. The more devices in  use, the greater chance you have of a poor streaming experience.
