Intermittent black screen
Super annoying! In the middle of a show, the screen goes black for about 5 seconds. This happens about every 5 minutes. Tried all the uninstall/reinstall, power off & on, log out & in, etc etc to no avail. Anyone else having this issue?
I have a Samsung "Smart" TV but this does not happen with any of the other 25 apps I have. This is so problematic if it doesn't get solved soon I'm definitely unsubscribing. Not worth the hassle with multiple other apps out there to use that cost the same or less!

Per your instructions, I deleted/reinstalled the DirecTV app on my smart Samsung TV set and still having the same issue. Did not have this kind of issues when I was using AT&T TV app before. You guys need to fix ASAP.

I was able to get the problem fixed but it did result in having to purchase a Ruku device. Although it took some effort Direct TV stream did make it right in the long run.

I'm also having this issue, suddenly, without any reason why. I bought my Samsung TV a few weeks ago and this started happening to me a day ago. It's so annoying and happens a lot. No other app that I've used has this issue - so it's NOT a Samsung TV issue. As a software developer myself, I know that this should be fixed by DirecTV and push an update to their Samsung TV user base. I use DirecTV on three other types of apps and they don't have this issue at all.
Also, reporting this to DirecTV will not do any good. Their support article is all of the typical yada, yada... and I did all of that before going to the support area. When you click on the link to learn more about connectivity issues and how to prevent them, you go to broken link. Well done, DirecTV.

Of course, you're right. They should fix the Samsung DirecTV Stream App. Maybe they're even working on it. But if they are, it's taking forever with no improvement. So you have a few choices .... use a $30 Roku or FireStick instead; wait for DirecTV to deliver a fix; or change streaming providers.

You perked my interest when you said your new Samsung is only two weeks old and you just started having problems with DirecTV Stream. How you go two weeks of trouble free service is very interesting.
It almost sounds like a coup attempt by DirecTV Stream against Samsung since many of us Samsung App users have been having problems for four months when DirecTV Stream took over for AT&T NOW.

A "coup attempt by DirecTV Stream against Samsung ....". That's a good one! It's simply a lack of priority to devote engineering resources to fix it. They would be better off just dropping Samsung TVs as a "supported device". Given their past record with built-in TV apps, it's never going to work as well as other stand-alone streaming devices.

@g_mingolelli I didn't get free service. The app just worked as it was supposed to until I posted here. That wasn't helpful. 🙄

I knew contacting support wouldn't help. I don't have written confirmation via support yet, but they don't appear to care about product compatibility. They just built something and are letting it live as long as Samsung allows them to keep it in their app gallery. 🤦🏽‍♂️
