Samsung TV / DirecTV Stream issues?
Just wondering if anyone else is having issues with the DTVS app on a new Samsung TV? After much ado and many months, it seems the problem with DVR playback not working has been fixed (reported extensively on Samsung forums.) I'm still having regular episodes of the normal streamed content stopping/starting, screen going black for several seconds, delays, etc.

Here you can check the Samsung official list of compatible devices for the DIRECTV STREAM app.
Did you get any error code or message?
You can also try these steps:
1-Check for app updates.
2-Check for device software updates and install.
3-Close and restart the DIRECTV STREAM app.
4-Uninstall and reinstall the DIRECTV STREAM app.

Having the same issue with random dropouts i.e. the screen goes black and then comes back a few seconds later.
This only started recently.
This is an issue with the app on Samsung TVs because when I use the app via a FireTV stick, there are no issues.

I used to use my Samsung tv app and it (Edited per community guidelines). So do all the other apps. Get a Dtv stream box. You won't regret it.

I appreciate the quick response by the DIRECTV Community Specialists. My TV is a 50" Class, Q8DT Series, 4k UHD QLED LCD TV (that's what's on my Costco receipt from 12/6/20.) I have it on auto update and confirmed it is fully updated. I uninstalled and reinstalled the DIRECTV STREAM app. Problem persists. I was attempting to watch a movie from TCM that I recorded. It continually dropped out, showed the little spinning circle, went black and then restarted at a point before where it dropped out about every 3/4 minutes for the duration of the movie. Not acceptable app performance. This doesn't occur with other apps like Netflix or Youtube for example. Definitely a problem with the app.

Same issues here. Supported TV, up-to-date on software. The DirecTV app is garbage on the Samsung TV's. Always had issues too when the app was AT&T Now as well. I'm most likely going to get a Roku or similar device. My other TV's with a Roku do not have DirecTV stream app issues.

Smart decision to get an external device. The issues with the Samsung app has been extensively reported in the forum for years. All one needs to do is search. Final voice in the subject is to get a true streaming device or get another streaming service. History has shown that the app want be fixed.

It's interesting how people will spend thousands of dollars on their entertainment setup but then refuse to get a Dtv stream box and spend 120 dollars on a much superior streaming device.

Interesting how a BILLION dollar company can’t design a functioning app for one of the most popular TV brands on the market…
The fix should not be to buy something else when every other streaming app for ever other service works fine.

For the record - none of the suggestions offer by the “specialists” do anything.
It’s an app problem. Not an end user problem.

Hello DIRECTV.. experiencing the same exact issue here. Just started in last couple weeks. TV model is Samsung 65" Frame Series 4K UHD QLED LCD TV.

I would suggest contacting Samsung Support as well as notifying DIRECTV stream about your issues.

Same problem as the others. Started last week. Sudden black screen with spinning circle for about 4-5 seconds. No error message. If live stream, restarts where it left off. If a recording, the gap of unknown (and inconsistent) duration is simply gone - the gap is there every time you rewind and try again. Frequency is about every 5-15 minutes on recordings once it starts, about every 10-30 minutes on live streams. On recording of HBO's Succession, language switched to alternate after each glitch - only shows the changed setting about half the time. App reinstall has not fixed it. Disney+ and HBO Max do not have this problem. Speedtests at time of glitching exceeds 300Mbps with minimal latency. Samsung models affected are QN65Q9FAM (software version T-KTMAKUC-1300.3, BT - S ... DIRECTV app version 3.23.29406) and QN32LS03TBFXZA (software version T-KSU2FAKUC-2101.0, BT - S ... DIRECTV app version 3.23.29406)
