Let’s get this problem taken care of,
While we work on this keep in mind you are not without entertainment!
Download the DirecTV App to watch on your mobile device.
We would like to begin by asking some clarifying questions.
The items above could cause a blank recording, otherwise we can follow these steps to verify everything is working correctly.
Press the Dash button which is located on the bottom left hand side of the remote control below the number seven. This will bring up a message that should say “SWiM: Connected” if it is not connected we may need to check your cables to make sure they are hand tight.
Next we will test the recording functionality.
If there was an error message when attempting to change channels we will want to look into that specific message or error code and troubleshoot the issue.
We definitely want to be able to assist in any way we can, so please let us know if this helps or if you have any other questions.

I have the same issue. If I select Taste on guide(using the app), I am able to record but not watch live. There is nothing on the screen save the DirecTV logo.
