Upgrading from Entertainment Package to Choice
It is really disappointing that when I upgraded from the Entertainment Package to the Choice Package (for football programming) that we lost channel 565 the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries (which makes my wife VERY UNHAPPY!). I highly recommend this channel be added to ALL packages, as I will be downgrading my package at the end of the football season because of this ONE SPECIFIC channel being omitted from more expense packages!

The Movies Extra Pack is only $5.00 more a month which has the channel your wife wants plus a few extra channels. I would think that would be a small price to pay to keep your wife happy so that you can have more football-related channels. Most of the time you can get a free trial before being charged and if you contact them before the free trial is over sometimes you can get an extension on your free trial or they will give it to you half off. So good luck!

Hallmark Movies & Mysteries is a speciality channel. Was only part of the HD Extra Pack add-on (now called the Movies Extra Pack). A while back it got added to the Select, Entertainment, the special Preferred Xtra, and Premier packages.
It is uknown when that happened why packages in between (Choice, Xtra, and Ultimate) did not receive it. Was an odd update at the time (and wasn't announced, just happened so a lot of people are still unaware).

Unfortunately, as this is a public forum, we can’t take any recommendations into consideration. We are customers just like you. There is definitely the Movies Extra Pack which includes that channel but you should tell an agent about your concern by calling (number in my greeting below).

I understand what the OP is saying here. Generally, one would expect that as the package price increases, more channels would be added, not channels removed. That said, I believe the Movies Extra Pack is free for the first three months (at least for me on line it is) so the OP could get the Hallmark channels for his wife for free during that time.

I doubt they’ll give half-off but of course that’s the best option here instead of switching back to Entertainment

Thank you Everyone! Yes, I went ahead and added the Movie Extra Pack as recommended. I was not aware of that add-on. So, I guess if Wife is happy, everyone is happy! Thanks again for the advice.

Comes down to that HM&M is the odd channel out. It is the only channel of that pack that was added to base packages. So must be a specific agreement with the channel owner that makes it special.
Do you have DirecTV (satellite) or DIRECTV STREAM (streaming-only)?
