Your satellite dish likely went out of alignment. Otherwise, the error 771 is triggered for a number of reasons (bad storm, dish warped, LNB failure, coaxial cable water issue, splitter issue, pole pulled out of level).
So we can rule out a bunch of causes, does this happen on ALL channels or only some? Additionally, do all receivers get error 771?
To test signal strength (so we have an idea of how misaligned your dish is), go to Menu, Settings, Satellite, and View Signal Strength. From there, let satellite 101 signals populate and document the average. It’s normal to see a few transponders (numbers on-screen) to be low or zero. After documenting, press the ‘+’ button to be sent to satellite 99 (ca). Do the same thing you just did. Thereafter, document 99 (cb), 103 (ca), and 103 (cb). In the end, you should have five averages for five satellites.
If you are more of a tech savvy person, there are several videos on YouTube instructing how to reaim the dish. If not, you call DIRECTV (number in my greeting below) and schedule a service visit. It’s $99 or FREE with the protection plan.
Please answer the above questions and be specific. We have no way to know what boxes you have, the channels the issue are on, or what troubleshooting you might have done. Well, "all the troubleshooting I can" is not the same for each of us.
We are trying to help but can only give guidance based on what little information you provide.
Also, it would be nice if you found the average of those five satellites so we have an idea of how far off your dish really is. In this case, while you are still receiving some HD channels, that could be a simple dithering process on the dish (very straightforward).

No problem for over a year, 10 years, or 6 months makes no difference. Problems can happen with anything.
What are the models of each box you have?
Is the issue on each or just certain boxes?
All or certain channels?
Anything happen before the error started?
Have you tried any troubleshooting at all?
