99 sat outage yellow banner

The lower res duplicate is on 101 or possibly 99(ca). The satellite experiencing issues is 99 (cb).

I assumed it was the SD version, the 101 is supposedly sending MPEG 4 now so don't if it is SD or HD.

I record the Dodger games and the game just ended so I went to the recording and all I got is delete or keep so maybe I was watching the internet version.

We have a stand alone HR24 and an HR54/500 Genie...  Two questions...  First, what is "activate SignalSaver"???  The above link to it appears to be broken...  But what is it???

And second, on STREAMING...  If I switch over to streaming (we have the internet connected to both of our DVR's), can I then switch back to satellite if I later choose to do so???  Or is it a "once you switch over, that's that"...

The HR24 doesn't need to be connected to the internet with an Ethernet cable it will get the internet through the HR54 if it is on the same coax, you will need to reset the HR24 after removing the Ethernet cable.  The HR54 should switch to the internet if it looses the sat signal and then switch back when it returns.

Hi Shannon...  yes, our's is set up such that only the HR54 has an Ethernet connection to our router and yes, the HR24 gets internet through the sat coax and the somewhat complicated setup using DCA's and power inserters in the correct location...  I used to understand the setup but now I just have screenshots of everything!!! Been setup for 10 years now...  So you say there is nothing to do to switch to streaming...  It will just happen???  

But I trust the issue with the channels on the 99 degree satellite will not be helped by switching to streaming???  Or will it???  

And what is "activate SignalSaver"...  That link (way above) takes you to a Direct TV page that says "looking for something else"????  

Right, streaming doesn't do anything to the 99 sat it is just a work around until DTV can either move things from the 99 sat or fix its reported alignment problem.

OK, but I'm confused...  I just looked and the channels listed above are still not available...  Are you saying I can watch all channels if I somehow tell the system to switch over to streaming???  And if that's what I can do, how do I tell my DVR to switch over to streaming???  thanks...

Not all channels offer live streaming.  It should have switched by itself I think when you tune to the channel, don't know how to do it manually.  It is only the HR54 that does this.

hmmm...  I thought I had tried ch 349 a couple hours ago and it was part of the down channels...  But now, two hours later, that one is working...  Not 100% sure that was one I tried earlier but I think so...  But most other channels on the above list are still out...  

So is there a way for me to look at ch 349 to see whether it is streaming or satellite???  Like checking info while sitting on that channel or something...???  Just curious to know how/if I can tell if a channel is being streamed or received by satellite...

And do you know what they are saying has happened with the 99 sat???  Failed, misaligned (thought I hear you say) or what???  Does it sound repairable???

There is no way to send anyone out to fix it, so unless they can replace it or move everything to the other sats it is unknown how long it will be.  AFAIK the alignment has been reported but that opens another can of worms like what caused it to not point at the USA, do the thrusters have enough fuel to return it to the proper position?
