Access to CBS

The local affiliate owner (Mission) of that CBS station has pulled the feed from DirecTV. This is a normal neogitating tactic as they are trying to leverage us customers for higher rates. Seems they did the same to Dish recently and is becomming more common for any local to do so. Unfortunately Mission owns the broadcast rights so only they can decide when/if it is returned.

We’ve been working with Mission Broadcasting, the owner of WYOU-CBS, to reach an agreement so you can get its programs the same way as you always do. Unfortunately, Mission blocked access to our Wilkes-Barre and Scranton customers.

By law, Mission can refuse any compromise we offer and has the right to suspend WYOU-CBS from your channel lineup—which we had wanted to avoid. Broadcasters like Mission will often suspend cable, satellite, or streaming customers’ access for a brief period in an attempt to negotiate higher rates for themselves for the next three or more years. That happened to DISH Network customers during a recent Mission renewal.
