A&E On Demand?

I got A&E back after it was taken away, but now I have it back, I'm receiving an error code 721 for On Demand A&E shows.  How can I catch up on the shows  that I missed?  Can I have a rebate on my bill for not having access to shows I've been paying for?

Try a red button reset on that receiver either on the front where it says PRESS or the right hand side of the receiver. Afterwards, wait at least 24 hours for On-Demand to fully populate. Once done, ensure that it works.

if that doesn’t fix the issue, go online to directv.com/refresh and login to your account to refresh that specific receiver. To check that you are properly refreshing the right receiver, compare the Receiver ID or access card that it lists online to the one that you have on the receiver. To check either, pull the card out and find the 12 digits or tune to a channel on the receiver that you don’t get and it will provide the Receiver ID and access card to the bottom left.

I have tried restarting many times.  Called Direct TV three times and told it's an ongoing problem and engineers are working on it.  Not right as we never asked for channels that we pay for to be removed and now we can't catch up on shows that we missed.  I get an error code 721 on both my DVRs.

Any idea how many more weeks it will be?  The shows I want to catch up on expire next month.

Hi @Caggsarooni

We're waiting for an estimated time of resolution. Please continue to reset the equipment, that way we'll have access to the programming as soon as it is resolved.

We appreciate your patience.

With A&E restored, under normal conditions it may take 24-48hrs for On Demand access to reinstate. As suggested, www.directv.com/refresh will be a way to manually refresh the authorizations.

Not impossible they are having some technical issues with the opt-in process that extend to On Demand authorizations. If that is the case all you can do is be patient. There is no rebate as you are not charged for On Demand in the first place. DirecTV is service by satellite. The online options are perks, not a requirement of service you are paying for. People with little to no internet who cannot use On Demand, or just choose not to, don't get any different pricing.

My point is that I didn't request for A&E to be taken away with no notice.  If it hadn't been taken away, I wouldn't need to catch up with the series of shows I'd been watching On Demand.

Hi @Caggsarooni, we're sorry to know you are missing your favorite shows.

At the moment A&E and History channels are getting the error code 721 or subscribe error when attempting to play content, this error is under investigation status, our experts are aware of this situation and working to get the programming restored as soon as possible.

Thank you for your patience.

My point is that I didn't request for A&E to be taken away with no notice.

They can change programming/channels at any time without your request. Occasionally their carriage agreements with the networks update. In this case it was a change in viewership so they updated the packages. You are fortunate they gave a "opt-in" choice to retain the channels as there was no obligation they do so.

That being said, as mentioned they are have some technical difficulties since both the update and implementing the option for the few that are interested enough to keep it at those lower levels. Hopefully the issue is short-term.
