Anyone had any luck using an "3D compatible" AVR?

I know the literature says one needs to connect the 3DA-1 directly between the video source and television set.  But there are now several AVR's that boast "3D connectivity" and have HDMI 1.4a outlets . . . has anyone been bold enough to connect their Mitsubishi TV and 3DA-1 up using one of these?

If so - any issues or does it work?  Again, I'm talking about the newere "3D compatible" AVR's, as I know it won't work through older ones.

Thanks.
