Blackouts on games that are not live

Hello,

I would like to know why rebroadcasts of games are being blacked out by Directv. Blackouts apply to live, locally televised games. Directv is blacking out out of market, previously aired games. For example, I have extra innings. I can watch live out of market Giants games. When they rebroadcast the next day, it is blacked out. This should not be happening. I cannot watch the replays of any out of market games in any sport even with the sports package and extra innings, et cetera. Is this a mistake? Can it be fixed?

If the replay is out-of-market, in-season, and on an MLB EI channel then you should be able to watch it.

MLB EI changes nothing on RSNs. If the RSN/specific team is in-market, then you should be able to watch it. If the replay is only on an RSN and is out-of-market, then you cannot watch it. Being a replay doesn't change blackout rules.

The Sports Pack does not get you out of market games or change blackouts. Though it includes over 35 RSNs and speciality sport channels, it will not override blackout rules. So you still cannot get out-of-market games that way. The Sports Pack is for college games, getting your in-market RSNs if below Choice, specialty channels, and other regional events. Sometimes it gives you pre/post game coverage for out-of-market games, but not the game itself.

And for the MLB, weekend games have special rights by ESPN and Fox. This is different from all other professional sports.

Sorry but blackouts apply to replays as well, as much as people want differently.

TV providers have no say in blackouts.

The MLB Extra Innings will provide you in-season, out-of-market games only.

Sports Pack gives you over 35 RSN and specialty sports channels, but doesn't change blackouts as you may only watch what is in-market.

So if it is out-of-market (live or replay) you watch on the MLB Extra Innings. If the live game is on MLB EI, but the replay is on the team's RSN, then unfortunately you cannot watch the replay. MLB EI and Sports Pack/RSN are different channel blocks.

Alright, ignoring the fact that I have EI, MLB doesn’t have blackout rules regarding replays - only live games. Why are replays blacked out for either out of market or in market games on RSNs? If you pay to have all of the RSNs and there are no explicit blackout rules, why are they not shown? It makes the purchase of RSNs completely useless as 95% of content is blacked out via Directv.

@Nabukl, you can’t even spell blackouts. Don’t need your unnecessary and useless feedback.

@ZillahBilham

This thread is three years old, although the info provided is still accurate and informative. Since you are resurrecting an older post, it will be closed.
