Cancel Direct TV

If Direct TV cannot come to an agreement with NBC I will cancel my account. One of the few reasons to have a provider like Direct TV is that I get local stations like WKYC!!! It is time to call Spectrum.

It’s not NBC, it’s the owner of that station, Tegna. Switching to Spectrum won’t resolve anything. Eventually Tegna’s contract with Spectrum will expire and the same thing will happen there.

I agree. It’s the only channel my husband usually watches. The other companies we can go with have the nbc and the ones that I watch regularly. So it’s not worth staying with DIRECTV

I'm tired of our local stations getting taken away too.  If this doesn't get resolved soon I too will be switching away from Direct TV. Want WKYC Cleveland back!

First of all it is not an agreement with NBC itself, but the owner of the local affiliate station which is TEGNA. Only the channel owner, as they have the broadcast rights, can pull the feed or return it.

The simple fact is the two are negotiating the next carriage agreement. Tegna has chosen to hold out, as is their right, which unfortunately uses us customers as leverage.

TV providers don't want to keep paying the increasing costs for locals that have their free over-the-air (OTA) broadcast. And of course the higher those costs are factors into our bills. Switching does not protect you as all TV providers go through these negotiations. Locals in the last several years have more often been pulling their feed during these times with the different providers.

If you cannot live without the channel, then I suggest using a antenna to get the free broadcast until negotiations complete. Might even pick up some additional channels (such as sub-channels) in range. Better than demanding DirecTV cave sooner and jack up the prices.
