Can't record shows or teams on LCC from a search. Have to do it manually from the Guide.

I dropped my local channels a few months ago to save some money. My Local Channel Connector (LCC) works well, except for what I mentioned in the Subject line. My favorite teams only show satellite channels and sets them to record, so I have to delete them, find the games in the Guide, and record them on the OTA channels one at a time. Similarly, if I search for a series, only the local satellite channels show. I have to manually find the series in the Guide and record the series on the OTA channel instead.

I have reported this to DirecTV and get "update" emails once a week, but they don't say if they're working on this issue or the previous channel bug that I also reported.

I have rebooted my HR54 and redone my antenna setup with no luck. Does anyone else have this issue and hopefully found a fix? If they can show the OTA channels in the Guide, it shouldn't be much effort to show them in searches as well.

Since the LCC doesn't work on the HS17 Genie2 DTV may no longer support it, so it is doubtful if it will be fixed.  You should be able to setup series recording by pressing the record button twice.

I do record series by double clicking in the Guide, because I can't do it from a search. That doesn't work for my favorite sports teams because they're on different channels at different times.

I live alone and only have one TV, so I'm not interested in getting an HS17, which  would need a Genie2, and pay more for local channels again.

Would need a mini as the HS17 is the Genie2.

I guess that shows how little interest I have in getting new hardware and paying more money, lol!

We are currently addressing this matter, @JimSmith94, and we need your assistance for our investigation. Please follow these steps:

Access Menu -> Smart Search

Input the TEAM you support (e.g., Lakers)

Choose the Result that has an "NBA" label next to it (or the relevant league for the team, such as MLB/NHL/MLS, NCAA FB, NCAA BB, etc.)

Click on Season Record and then Record All.

Inform us of the outcome and also, could you provide the RID of your HR54 on which you executed these steps? Charles, DIRECTV Community Specialist

@DIRECTVhelp The results were the same. It doesn't show any antenna channels to record from my LLC. It only shows DirecTV local channels, plus it shows specific sports channels that I don't subscribe to. My Receiver ID is xxxxxxxxx, updated to 0x1b7b on 12/12.

You shouldn't be posting personal info on a public forum like the RID.

Never post info that is personal to you (Receiver ID, Serial Number, contact info, etc.). When it comes to equipment, the model number is what you post as you aren't the only person with that model number.

The HR54 is the 3rd generation Genie. As such the Genie-2 (HS17) does not automatically increase the monthly bill. This is because you already have all the possible receiver services as all Genie and Genie-2 setups require HD, DVR, and Whole Home DVR.

However, the Genie-2 doesn't support the LCC. So if you had removed locals to save cost, choosing to add them back in would add that cost back of course.

The Genie (HR54) is a bit overboard for a single TV home as you can't really use the Whole Home DVR service that it requires. Accounts on the new billing model have that built into their Advance Receiver services, but if on the old billing model save $3 if they have a regular HDDVR but no Genie (as Whole Home DVR is optional for those non-Genie setups).
