Casting to my Samsung with the new mobile app

With the new app there are black bars all the way around th pictue when I'm in full screen. The old app cast to my Samsung tv with no black bars and a complete full screen on my TV. How do I fix this?

This is the DTV sat forum and the sat part of the DTV app doesn't allow streaming/casting to any external devices so you may need to post in the streaming forum.

Do you have DirecTV (satellite) or DIRECTV STREAM (streaming-only)?

If satellite, casting is supposed to be blocked. This is to prevent account sharing, but also you are supposed to pay $7 for each TV on the service. So the app is a limited perk.

If the streaming-only service, you are in the wrong section of the forum as this is DirecTV (satellite). You would need to post in that section to get help for the right service.
