CBS Broadcast Network Pixilation In Central Florida

Can anyone explain why CBS network broadcasting in the central Florida area is having issues?  It seems to pixilate quite often, but only on channel 6.  Other channels and signal strength are at about 98% using the self test of different satellites.  The dish is a slim line model, multi- LNB.  Must be something wrong...

Most likely a problem with that CBS channel's feed to DirecTV. Have you tried contacting the station directly?

If the broadcast stations feed is the actual problem, you would think DIRECTV should know that...  DIRECTV should halved reached out to them for starters - with customer complaints about this issue.  I knew I had excellent signal strength prior to the technician coming out, which I had already explained to the online tech person during our phone conversation...

However, I was dumbfounded when the field technician came to my house and told me - "the problem is at the station"...

I cant believe the person I spoke with on the phone during troubleshooting wasn't aware of this known issue, "according to the tech that came out"...  I hope there is resolve to this issue, soon.

It totally wasted my time, and convinced me I needed a monthly maintenance agreement; or pay $99 for a tech to come out.   Any way you look at it, that's just not right...

The call center can be in any state or even another country so they have no info on a local problem.

DirecTV retransmits thousands of local stations across the country. It's unrealistic to think they can monitor all of them. It's up to the local stations, and viewers of those stations, to report these sorts of issues to both the local station and DirecTV.

Did you try contacting the station? What did they say?

A correct phone number would be much appreciated.  I've tried to call numerous numbers, keep getting the run around.  I cant get a straight answer on  who/where to "actually" call.

If it has already been confirmed the issue is from the channel, then you need to call them. This is not CBS itself, but your specific local affiliate. You can check www.directv.com/locals to verify the exact local affiliate as shown by their "call sign". Then just it is just a matter of a web search to get their website to look up their contact info.

You should be able to Google that station call letters and find their contact information. Ideally you want to talk with the "Station Engineering Manager".

A reply, finally...

Hi Stuart,

Thank you for your email.
We are experiencing quality issues with our over-the-air signal with DirecTV. We are working with the DirecTV technical team to find the source.
Several stations are also seeing issues but we are actively working to fix it.

I’m sorry for the inconvenience.

Best,

I got an email reply from the CBS station -  Frank Torbert,    He said: Thanks for contacting me about this. First please report this to Directv. I will contact their operations center also but Directv needs to hear from customers about this problem.

Ha, a lot of finger pointing going on...

I believe AT&T is an affiliate of DIERCTV, I need some more help and solution to the actual problem, at least better answers.  Seems like everyone just wants to keep "Passing The Buck" to someone else.

I would not say that is finger pointing. That is making sure both the local affiliate and the TV provider have received info on the issue. Neither side will do anything as they don't know about a problem until reported.

Since the issue is with just a single local, it most likely is a problem with the feed between the channel owner and DirecTV. As for if that is a problem on the channel's side sending it or DirecTV's receiving it, we don't know.

AT&T is not a DirecTV affiliate. AT&T owns DirecTV, so is the parent company. They were "bundling" partners before that, but each was a fully separate company.
