What channel package do you have? You'll have to get a package that includes Paramount Network.

I appreciate the information. There is no way I’m going to purchase a whole new package just to get one channel. That’s like having to buy an entire cart of groceries just to buy an apple.

The content providers package their channels to all TV providers so the all the TV providers can do is pick the package that best suits their customers then repackage them to send to the customer. You have been paying for the entire shopping cart for the few apples you use.

The fact that I’ve been assaulted in the past is not a valid reason to welcome assaults in the future. My earlier analogy remains valid. But thank you for amplifying the first response.

It is what it is, the only way to prevent it is to not to buy the shopping cart.

Channels cannot be added individually. That is how the traditional TV industry is designed. The content owners package them to TV providers who in turn are required to package them to us.
It is not purchasing a whole new package, but changing to a package that has it. You can change your package at any time if you only want the channel for so long.
Paramount (channel 241) is in Entertainment and higher. Looking at an older lineup, it should also be in Select but not Family. That indicates it should be in all but the lowest package.
So it would be surprising if you don't already have it. What package are you on?

I stream Paramount+, but the current season of ‘Yellowstone’ is unavailable to stream unless one subscribes to an entire streaming service (like YouTube, Sling, etc.). The only alternative is to subscribe to the Paramount Network (separate from Paramount+) on a cable or satellite service. Since I have DirecTV’s satellite service, I hoped that the Paramount Network (like Max, Starz, etc.) would be available as a single, premium add-on. But, of course not. Evidently, the contractual arrangements are a deliberate labyrinth of unnecessary complication. It is ridiculous nonsense like this that would persuade me to pirate the series.

@wraithsword
Unless you are on the Family package, you should have Paramount.
What is your package and what happens when you go to channel 241?

DTV has no control over what Paramount does with its programing, they decided to use their network channel to premier this show instead of their streaming service. AFAIK it will come to the streaming service sometime after airing on the channel.

i appreciate your attempt to answer my original question, Shannon. Of course DTV does control its “packages.” However, that no longer matters as I’ve dumped DTV after nearly 25 years in favor of Sling.
Have a wonderful holiday season.

No TV provider controls the content on the channels.
So if the issue is you didn't have Paramount, but weren't on the Family package, something is wrong as you should have the channel like everyone else.
If you complaint is you have the channel but don't have access to a specific show, that is because of Paramount. No TV provider controls what is available on the channel itself. They just deliver what is provided to them.
Certainly go where works best for you. Though I hope the switch was more than just for a single show.

As I indicated in my prior comment, I am no longer with DTV. So the matter is moot.
