When you say receiver do you mean a DirecTV Stream box? If that is what you mean, yes, you should get the same channels on either the box or through an app. The channels you get are determined by the package you subscribe to, and are the same on any device you use.

I just downloaded the app onto my tv and am not getting all the channels that i get on my regular receiver

Its a regular direct tv receiver

Do you have a satellite dish or are you getting your signal over the Internet?

Sounds like you have a DIRECTV satellite receiver. The answer is no. It always helps to look around the forum before posting something that’s been discussed already (no offense to you OP)

Rd11 it was a little confusing as you posted in the DirecTV Stream forum, not the DirecTV Satellite forum. 

I just installed the app on my tcl roku smart tv and thats where im having the issue of not getting all the channels that i get when using my direct tv receiver

I am moving this to DirecTV Satellite, it will get you more help than here. 

satellite and directv stream are two completely separate services and they each deliver certain channels. There is no relation between the satellite channel list and the streaming channel list.

Again, this is why I am irritated that they renamed the new service DIRECTV STREAM as gets confused very easily for DirecTV the traditional satellite service.
