Hello, there. Thinking about diversity, we love to know that DIRECTV is one of your options for your RV! Of course, all you need is a mobile receiver, a special satellite dish, and a subscription to one of our packages, and we have the following options available for you: https://www.directv.com/support/satellite/article/KM1113184. For sales info, you can call Winegard at 866-609-9374, or go to www.winegard.com. We hope to have you in our DIRECTV family soon. Have a great rest of your day! 💙 NatalyC DIRECTV Social Media Specialist

The only thing is you will not get any local channels unless you have an OTA antenna connected to your TV.

You can use DirecTV in your RV.

Must have a slimline SWM dish on a tripod/sled mount, or the more expensive Winegard Trav'ler.

Take a receiver (not Mini Genie Client) from home with you.

Once outside your home spot-beam, you will no longer receive local channels through DirecTV. Will need to use a regular antenna on your TV for locals within range.

@Juniper  I don’t have direct tv at home. HOA provides cable. We currently use Dish pay as you go, and I’m so sick of their terrible customer service. So I guess my question should be Can I get Direct TV for my RV without having it at my house?

Yes, but you can only suspend the account for 6 months per year and you will need to go to an RV dealer that installs DTV as DTV only handles residential and single apt./condos.

Frankly, Dish Network is a better option for RV'ers.

Agreed. DIRECTV does not have a dedicated RV package that makes it easy for you to cancel whenever you want. Dish, however, does. And, as a note, Dish Network experienced a month long ransomware outage so that is the main reason for your customer service issues. You should wait a bit longer until you touch base with them again, they are restoring their call centers and utilities as we speak.

I have direct tv in my motor home , it is time to upgrade the equipment & it has been nothing but a nightmare with them , every time we try to make an appointment  to have the old equipment replaced the person on the phone dose not understand that the equipment is installed in a motor home , not our home we live in . equipment we have now is out of date and dose not work . turning into a billing nightmare with them .

DirecTV will not upgrade your motor home. They only do that if it is permanently parked and used as a residence.

Upgrades are at your own cost through a 3rd party RV/Motor Home installer or DIY.

However, before you try any option again, what do you mean it is "time to upgrade"? Satellite tech doesn't advance quickly. What are the models of each box you have and which one(s) specificaly are in the motorhome?

Sadly, DirecTV does not service mobile equipment mounted on a motorhome. You'll need to hire an independent installer or do the work yourself. Note also that the only RV-mounted HiDef dish is the Winegard Trav'ler, which is rather expensive.

I have the winegard traveler installed. Boxes are approx 10 years old. Do not receive signals anymore ,was told I needed to change boxes from Direct Tv. Also wanted me to commit to a new contract.

You might have better luck dealing with a reputable DirecTV reseller, like Solid Signal. Give them a call.

You already have the Trav'ler but boxes stopped working that were using it? That doesn't sound right as outdated boxes can't use the Trav'ler in the first place.

What are the models of those boxes?

To use a satellite (DirecTV or Dish Network) box in your RV then you need to install that service. Has nothing to do with DIRECTV STREAM.

If you have need of further guidance, start your own thread. This one is from over a year ago.
