Direct TV working with Alexa?

I’ve tried everything I know how to do (including going to the Direct TV and ATT website(s) and carefully following the step by step instructions. I can’t get it to work—Alexa still says that it “can not communicate with Direct TV.”

Hey @Clooper, we're here to help with getting your DIRECTV equipment working with Alexa.

Required for the DIRECTV skill with an Amazon Alexa device:

DIRECTV service with the following equipment: HR44/54, HS17 STBs, or Genie Mini Clients.
An Amazon Alexa device, such as Echo, Dot, or Tap, Spot, and Show.
Alexa must be installed already with appropriate device to be compatible with DIRECTV System.
For more information please go here.

Unfortunately none of that worked though the genie receiver (s) are supposed to be compatible with Alexa. My smart TVs are also supposed to be compatible with Alexa. Alexa is linked now to both TV’s and also to the Direct TV via the Alexa app and also the Visio Smart Cast app, but Alexa says “I’m having difficulty communicating with Direct Tv. Please check your power supply or receiver.”

When will it be possible to control the Gemini set top box with Alexa. Even with IR from the Fire cube?

Never, DTV no longer supports Alexa you need to use Google.

@Howmed

Support for Alexa was dropped for all DirecTV boxes just over a year ago. As such the answer is "never".
