Directv app on fire stick: how to enter channel #'s ???
I have Directv app on latest Firestick. I have Directv via satellite with Genie dvr. I can watch Directv via the app on firestick connected to a tv. But my firestick remote does not have number buttons so how do I type in, for example, channel 304 or 229? Now to change channels I have to hit the 3 lines (hamburger) key on remote then select Guide. Then I have to scroll thru pages of guide to find channel I want to watch.

Sorry Juniper that is NOT an accepted solution.
The app should have a way to enter a channel number via the virtual keyboard. Just like it does for the SEARCH feature when looking for a movie or show.

I do not have Directv Stream subscription. I have satellite Directv STB and also use "Directv app" on a firestick. Not sure if the "stream" app is same under the covers?

@walkgood It doesn't matter whether you have a Directv Sat service or use the streaming service. When using the Firestick to stream your Directv Service they are streamed exactly the same. You cannot directly change to a specific channel as there are no number keys on your remote and no virtual keyboard you would have to go through the guide or through the search to change the channel as everyone who is using a Firestick does.

It would be up to Amazon to provide a way to enter channel numbers on their products.

No hardware (remote controller) change needed by Amazon. Whoever wrote the Durectv app could add the fearure. It would be simpler for the app to be changed. In the channel GUIDE section have a virtual button to click to allow the use of a virtual keyboard, maybe just numbers. Select digits with the existing remote. The Search function for finding movies to watch already uses the virtual keyboard. So it would not be difficult to enable that type of functionality in the app.

If you have a voice control button Amazon remote, and probably useable with Alexa, if you hold the blue voice control button and speak
"channel <X>" where <X> is EITHER the channel number, or the correct network name from the guide, the Firestick/Firecube version of the DirectTV app will indeed change to the channel you requested. I hold down the blue voice control button on my Firecube Gen 2 and Gen 3 remotes and it works.
Just confirmed, "Alexa ... channel <X>" works as well where <X> is a channel number or the correct channel name in the guide.
