DIRECTV doesn't provide an app for the FireTV devices. If you want to watch TV on a TV, then DIRECTV thinks that you need to get a Receiver.

You can watchit on your phone. I believe you will find some difficulty when you attempt to castit from your phone to another device.
I understand where you're coming from. And the shift from DIRECTV to AT&T TV is part and parcel of the shift from being tied to TV sets in a home to being able to watch what you want on the device of your choice wherever you are. But DIRECTVs model of paying its vendors is built on paying a fee per large screen. And while you might only want to take that Fire TV Stick on a trip with you, that isn't the only way to use it.

That won’t work. The Directv app specifically blocks casting. What you can do is use your Directv credentials and stream the various network apps on the fire stick.

Thanks for the response. That is great in theory unless you travel and want to stream. Guess i will just have to cast it from my phone.
