DirecTv for Apple TV 3rd Generation.
Hey guys, since the Apple TV 3rd Generation has been out for the longest time ever, I actually was able to buy one today. And I noticed some of the apps I need / have aren't on it. For ex, YouTube, that I can manage to Airplay and such. But I like to watch my popular shows within my DirecTv box. However, I wonder if you guys are gonna make an app for this specific generation? Because, I don't know how I would manage to Airplay my DirecTv..

DTV is not a streaming service so will never make a streaming app other then their existing app for mobile devices and you can't airplay DTV to external TVs from a mobile device. The only way to get DTV is by connecting it to a DTV receiver.
This is a customer to customer forum with little access to DTV.

No, they won’t be making an app for Apple TV or for any other streaming device. You do know you can download apps to your Apple TV, yes? You mention YouTube being missing, you can download it. As for watching Directv, you can use your Directv credentials with the various network apps.

The DirecTV app is not for Apple TV, phone casting, or any other option to view on TV. It is a option for on a mobile device (smart phone or tablet) only.
With satellite TV you pay for each authorized TV on the service. Since streaming to TV would violate that business model it is not supported. They are a satellite provider, so streaming is only secondary perks.
Some channels have individual apps that do allow streaming on TV.

Hi @Skys
You could use a wireless DIRECTV client if you have a Genie currently. There would be no need for wires coming to that room from the dish and you would be able to watch DIRECTV in the room that has the apple TV. Anything that you wanted to watch with the DTV app can be accessed on the wireless client. But, there is a $7.00 monthly fee for the EXTRA TV. Relating back to your orginal post, I totally agree with Juniper.

Well yes you pay $7 for the additional TV regardless if using a receiver, Mini Genie Client (wired or wireless) or even built-in Client (RVU/DirecTV Ready TV). That is the satellite TV model.
For streaming TV, you get a streaming provider. For by satellite, that is what DirecTV is for.
