@DavidTulsa Then you probably need a new box if a rest did not correct the issue. Do you have protection plan? If so put in for a service call to have them come out and look at your equipment and check everything.

A replacement box is a possibility, but that will not fix the issue if it turns out to be a problem with the data feed down to it. Just a bit of troubleshooting to be sure.

A warranty replacement is $19.95 delivery (or covered if you are paying for the Equipment Protection Plan). However, many agents will use this opportunity to offer an "upgrade". If you consider an upgrade, I would suggest posting back in the forum with the models of all current boxes to get guidance. Protects against an overzealous agent who may not suggest what is optimal for your setup.

Yes, same programming on each pair.

74132, Creek County.

I only messed with the Guide display settings to verify it wasn’t an SD vs. HD thing.

1 TV is direct wired, 3 TVs are wireless.  All 4 have the same issue.

no change after red-button resets as described.

IMHO, The guide is displaying the data that is being sent to it. The only channels involved are the 4 major networks.  The number of each duplicate is not random, they were chosen by an intelligent, albeit careless technician.  Other numbers were available in sequence but not chosen.

Ok so not simply a guide listing issue but entire channel is a problem. Doesn't appear to be an issue specific to your area (unless it is private to them if only affecting a small set of customers).

Sounds like you have a Genie and 3 wireless Mini Genie Clients. As long as the main Genie is not the 1st generation (HR34) you are good there. Only two models of wireless Clients at this time. Are all 3 the same model? (don't need to post a picture of your boxes, just model numbers will do).

I don't think a box replacement is the issue. The problem is either with the data feed that was sent or how it was received. There are a couple last things to try before anything DirecTV itself would have to do on their end.

Unplug power from all 4 boxes and the WVB. Leave them off for a couple minutes. Unlike a red button reset, this will clear any cached memory as well as the guide data. Power the Genie back up first as this is what runs all the Clients and is managing the guide data received. After it is back on then WVB and each Client one at a time. I would also refresh service authorizations once powered on. www.directv.com/refresh

Guide data should be loaded again within 24-48hrs. Hopefully this clears the wrong data and puts it all back where it should be. If it doesn't, then you will need to contact DirecTV for anything further they can do on their end (trouble ticket to internal IT, a restart of services on the account which may push more than just a refresh, etc.).

The number of each duplicate is not random, they were chosen by an intelligent, albeit careless technician.

Umm, what? Techs aren't choosing numbers on the fly 24/7. It is possible that someone messed up on the programming side (not necesserily careless as mistakes can happen regardless), there was a conflict between multiple data sources, or a software/hardware glitch (which could be on the broadcast side or the receiving side of your equipment). To say this was all done by a careless tech I feel is a baseless accusation.

Turns out these duplicates WERE chosen by a human and were done so on purpose. Apparently each of these local stations can be tuned in on these extra channels to accommodate people on the edges of reception that may have a competing station that uses that same channel.   DIRECTV is only passing along the signal. However, I think they would do something if enough people were annoyed by it.

DTV is only allowed per the FCC to give you the channels in your DME. DTV buys the guide data from a third party company as most TV providers do.

So I’m stuck with a screen full of duplicates that showed up a few months ago out of the blue?

Make a favorites list then. Simple and easy, easier done than said.

Is the full channel number the same or do they show as "sub-channels" such as 2.3, 2.3 or 2-2, 2-3, etc.

2-4, 5-8, 6-9, 23-25. They are duplicates. They are on purpose. They are annoying.

If it is 2 and 2-4, 5 and 5-8, etc. then the ones with the (-) are the sub-channels provided by the station. The only way to remove those is by setting up a favorites list.

If 2 and 4 are the exact same network and content, then that is a bit unusual but makes sense if you are near the border when they have two different OTA transmissions. I would verify www.directv.com/locals to make sure exactly what should be provided. If they are in the list, then setting a custom favorites list is all you can do.

In either of those cases, it would be the station providing those channels in the first place. All DirecTV can do is pass on what you are regulated to have. At that point a custom favorites list is the answer. Though that would be a decision by the local station and the FCC for your Designated Market Area (DMA), it is not chosen for you personally but all in that DMA.

I checked DTV locals as you suggest, and only the originals show up, no duplicates.

Then I would submit a complaint to the station owners that additional OTA channels are being sent over that you shouldn't have. But I still suggest a custom favorites list so you can hide any channel you don't get as well as any you do but don't watch.

Houston DMA customer.  I too see the same annoying multiples of the same channel.

KPRC 2 is also on 6 and 56

KHOU 11 is also on 10

KTRK 13 is also on 7 and 25

KRIV 26 is also on 44 and 52

In each case call letters and guide information is the same.

I've also peeked into the receiver and it appears the same data stream (sat/transponder/substream code) are the same.  It would appear these are simply duplicate channels.

This is not a SD channel duplicate issue.

Making a fav list is not practical.  Too many channels too many channels to put in the list just to drop a few erroneous channels plus any added channels would not appear in the guide.

I do have the "Channels I get" option set but it still shows the extra channels.
