Your DVD Player doesn't have anything to do with your DirecTV equipment. The DVD Player needs its own audio/video connection to your TV or AV Receiver.
If you do mean DVD then that has nothing to do with DirecTV. Connect it to your TV by HDMI, or A/V (red/white/yellow) cables, and then turn your TV's INPUT/SOURCE to the correct one.
If that was a typo and you meant DVR, then the above response is the same. However, if still not working after that, then we can help troubleshoot your DVR, but a DVD player contact the maker of it.
