When will FOX 16 channel be restored and available on Direct TV?

Doesn't matter that you didn't ask for it to be taken away. Nexstar made that call. Once the carriage agreement ends they are no longer obligated to provide it to DirecTV. If you think that should have been your call, complain to Nexstar. Like other TV providers, DirecTV would prefer the channel remain while they are still negotiating but not their call.

Comes down to that you nor I, nor DirecTV owns the channel. It is Nexstar's decision on what to do with it.

There is no "basic package". Comes down to what you watch on which you have. Even if you have the lowest costing package Family, it includes channels that some of the middle ones do not have because of what it is built for. That is why there is no "basic".

And we are not charged for infomercial channels. Those pay TV providers for their channel slot. As for occasional informercial programming, those pay the channel owner for their timeslot. If it weren't for practices like that, our bills would be even higher.

I can't believe that local advertisers have not dropped advertising on Fox 16. They are losing customers because many are not seeing their advertisements.  I personally never watch any FOX local channels. I did like the early (9PM) evening news.

Advertisers pay local because they still broadcast. They don't pull away just because channel owner is in carriage negotiations with one company. At core, they are broadcast over-the-air (OTA) to the local area which is what local advertisers are counting on.

Previous Nexstar and Tegna negotiations have completed. The only issue should be locals that are owned by another company, but controlled by Nexstar (giving them a workaround so they don't own too many channels by the rules).

But if you "personally never watch any local FOX local channels" then curious why you created an account to weigh in on a situation that seems to have no affect on you. Well hope you enjoyed the discussion.

DirecTV is all about money, they don't care about service.   For almost two months, we couldn't get any channels in the 200-300 range because there was a "tiff" between Disney and DirecTv, so we were without half the package we purchased from DTV.

In the meantime, DTV also has a statement "satellite not available, so we are switching you to the internet" and then we go through scads of buffering.  We are paying for the satellite reception, not some poor excuse of internet connection.  We are dealing with a couple of local firms who are getting into the local market to provide fiber optics service for both internet and tv connections.  I'll be glad when they are finished laying the cables and I can kick both DTV and ATT to the curb.

Your dish may need to be aligned if you are being switch to the internet.

Disney removed their feed to DTV when the contract expired.

Sat not available would be a nationwide outage.

The dish has been in the same position for the  past 10 years,.  I can only tell you what the message says when the channel doesn't come in on the satellite, but goes to buffering for the internet.  The service from DTV is horrible, just slightly better than ATT which is the worst I've experienced period.   I'm 82, retired, and fed up with both companies.

AT&T sold off 30% of DTV and no longer handles the day to day operations. The only reason you are losing the sat signal is the dish not being aligned properly.

That is absolutely false. Disney does not own or control every single channel in that range. And they are not half your package. The Disney carriage issue was almost 2 weeks that just recently completed. If all your channels in the 200s were not working for 2 months as you say, that has nothing to do with Disney.

As for the message about switching to internet that is either an alignment issue with the dish (which is not guaranteed to be in the exact precise location after 10 years as could be a small shift over time, settling of the building, etc.), a connection issue between the dish and box (at minimum check the coax to the box is finger tight), or a software hiccup where it is enacting the Signal Saver feature in error.

I don't know how you think you know so much about my channels and my DTV package, but you are the one who is totally wrong.   When I clicked on the channel, the message came back "this channel is not available due to the Disney contract being expired and we are in negotiations.  It was longer than 2 weeks, we kept getting that message close to 6 weeks.   On the channels that did not show up as being on the satellite and going to the internet ... again when we selected that channel, we got the message there was a problem with the satellite and we were being switched over to an internet connection.   My comments were based on actual signs given by DTV on each of those channels as to why we weren't getting them.   I believe you are a "plant" posing as a non-employee, but most likely you are a contract person paid to dispute actual customers who have problems with DTR.   Do me, and many others a favor, and keep your comments to yourself (Edited per community guidelines).   All I know is that all those channels I selected in that range that wouldn't show had the sign stating "problems with Disney" and the channels being switched over the the internet due to problems with the satellite connection, which in fact has been going on for over 3 months.

Disney doesn't own all the channels in the 200s and is not half the channels of any package. So one doesn't need to know exactly what package you are on as Disney may be large, they aren't THAT large.

Their carriage agreement expired this month and they pulled away for almost 2 weeks. Shortly before that Disney did put out notices the channels may go away (a common scare tactic making it seem like it is by mandate of TV provider) to get more people to complain. But the channels would be on during that time. If your Disney owned channels (again not half the package and not all the channels in the 200s), were gone BEFORE EVERYONE ELSE with that message, something was seriously messed up for you personally.

I am not a "plant" so your belief is wrong. I do not work for DirecTV, AT&T, or any of their affiliates. I have my own job that has nothing to do with them. I am a very experienced TV customer who got help on this forum years ago and started participating more and more. Because I have given many helpful, accurate, and honest posts I have been provided the tag of "ACE". That does not make me an employee.

This is a public forum so I am allowed to share my perspective and information just like anyone else. Your not liking my response doesn't change that. And please leave insults at the door. We can discuss like mature adults.

And Disney pulled their channels from DirecTV on September 1, so the start of this month, not 2 months ago.
