Free content available for our video customers during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic

I think direct tv should have free movies to watch during the coronavirus out break.

People are asked to stay home and movies to watch would help the pain.

All,

Movies and television have always been a welcome escape in difficult times. With many people staying at home, we’re giving our video customers additional content at no cost during this time.

We’re adding the following channels to DIRECTV and U-verse packages (for customers that do not currently have this programming) to keep customers entertained and informed:

  • News: BBC World News, CNBC, CNN, CNN International, Fox Business Network, Fox News Channel, MSNBC, One America News Network

  • Entertainment: American Heroes, Aspire, AWE, AXS TV, Comedy.TV, Cooking Channel, Crime & Investigation, Destination America, Discovery Life, DIY Network, Eleven Sports, FM, Fuse, FX Movie Channel, fyi, Great American Country, GSN, Hallmark Channel, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, HDNET MOVIES, IFC, Justice Central, LMN, MGM HD, MTV Live, Nat Geo WILD, OWN, Oxygen, Science Channel, ShortsTV, Smithsonian Channel, Sony Movie Channel, SundanceTV, The Weather Channel, Travel Channel, TV One, UPtv, WGN America

  • Kids: Discovery Family, Disney Jr., Disney XD, Nick Jr., Universal Kids

  • Spanish Language: Bandamax, Canal 22 Internacional, CANAL ONCE, Centroamérica TV, Cine Estelar, Cine Mexicano, Cine Nostalgia, Cinelatino, De Pelicula, De Pelicula Clásico, Discovery En Español, Discovery Familia, Enlace, Estrella TV, FOROtv, History En Español, HITN, MegaTV, Multimedios, Nuestra Tele, Pasiones, Telefe, TUDN, TVE (Television Espanola), Univision tlnovelas, ViendoMovies, Vme, WAPA América. These free previews are available until 6/18. Access at no additional charge is for customers who do not already have this content in their programming.

In the coming weeks, we’ll offer additional previews of premium channels, while also expanding to include our AT&T TV and AT&T TV NOW customers.

For a full overview of what we will be offering our video customers, and more, please refer to our Free Preview TV Watchlist.

Thanks,

The AT&T Community

No free movies, I'm afraid, However, AT&T is participating in the FCC's Keep American Connected pledge during the COVID-19 crisis... you can Google more information. This pledge includes delayed disconnects and foregoing some late fees, in an effort to keep customers connected during trying times.

I’m sure the OP is talking about pay per view. Directv is the content provider for those.

During this health crisis, it would be great if DIRECTV would offer free movie channels for 30 days. It might encourage people to stay home, and it would be good public relations for AT&T.

Since all of us are stuck at home, probably television will become a main focus for quite a lot of people. Wouldn't it be nice if Direct TV/AT&T would step up to the plate, and turn on ALL channels no matter which plan an account pays for monthly. This would give us all much more variety and who knows, in the end, many might keep the upgrade. Many big businesses have come forward...it's about time AT&T did the same. A kind gesture can go along way considering that millions have contributed to the success of AT&T/Direct TV.

It would be great for ATT to offer current customers a free month with the virus going on. This is a great way to build customer relations for the future. Charter is offering stuff and if Att doesnt offer some kind of free service i have no problem letting my bill go and go with Charter. ATT SERVICE ISNT EVEN GOOD. TIME TO STEP UP ATT

With everyone doing social distanceing direct could open a couple of premium channels for the people who are hanging around the house to make passing the time a little easier and the families with kids who are not going to school for the next couple weeks the video babysitter might be a blessing.thank you for your time.

Now would be the time for DirecTV to step up. Remove cost for movie channels and pay per view. Add more family G rated movies. Help families with kids at home, parents lost jobs, self employed with no customers.

Due to shelter in place restrictions, AT@T show open it's video catalog free of charge. This will generate goodwill, and AT&T may get compensated by the government.

At&t tv should unlock all the premium channels for it's subscribers of U-Verse tv and Directv due to the outbreak of Covid-19 virus in the United States for a short period of several days. It would be an excellent gesture of passion of the leadership of At&t Inc. The company could announce the unlocking of the premium channels until a future date something like May 1st. Keep in mind that millions of families are staying in their homes hours on end on orders of the authorities across the nation.

Who pays for it? Keep in mind that many thousands of AT&T employees are suffering the same problems as you and the rest of the country (world). Some concessions can be made without huge economic impact to the company; others would be cost prohibitive.

Just announced, ATT is giving Showtime free now and EPIX and HBO later along with other content and will include ATT TV and ATT NOW. Surprising, right @davemize ???

More information can be found under the heading of Expanded Content for our Video Customers. Things are changing, if not daily then hourly and you have to dig around to find these things out.

Now that people are asked to stay home, wouldn't it be a great time to offer your movie package for free (time period up to you) as a way to give back to your viewers. Restaurants are giving out free food, volunteers are making medical masks and brides are giving unused flowers to nursing homes - this would be your contribution to helping families stay home together. (They may even later subscribe to the movie package)

Read AT&T’s COVID-19 Response in the orange box at the top of the page. Here's part of it:

March 20, 2020

Movies and television have always been a welcome escape in difficult times. With many people staying at home, we’re giving our video customers additional content at no cost during this time.

We’ll kick things off by providing an extended complimentary preview of SHOWTIME for our DIRECTV and U-verse customers starting today until March 26 (if SHOWTIME isn’t part of their current video package). In the coming weeks, we’ll offer additional previews of premium channels, while also expanding to include our AT&T TV and AT&T TV NOW customers:

STARZ: 3/26-4/2

EPIX: 4/2-4/16

HBO: 4/17-4/20

Additional ways all video customers can access content during this time:

On Demand: Access to thousands of movies and shows. DIRECTV customers just need to connect their receiver to the internet to take advantage of this content.

Kids On Demand: The best of kids content in one easy location with an internet connected receiver. Watch full series or favorite episodes anytime from Nickelodeon, Disney, and Cartoon Network, all with recommendations by age.

TV Anytime, Anywhere: Turn your mobile phone or streaming device into another TV by downloading your TV app and sign in with your account credentials. You can watch your favorite On Demand shows or live TV anytime, anywhere.

Sports streaming included: While sports are postponed, customers who subscribe to NBA League Pass can stream past NBA games via the NBA app, powered by WarnerMedia’s Turner Sports.

Additional free content for our DIRECTV and U-verse customers during this time:

More News & Entertainment: We’re adding the following channels to DIRECTV and U-verse packages (for customers that do not currently have this programming) to keep customers entertained and informed:

Just a thought, DirecTV. Maybe you could give us a break on the price of movies during this global pandemic? Who wants to watch Christmas shows that we just saw a couple months ago? Not me. If you can't give us the movies free, maybe you could offer renting all movies at .99 cents each. There isn't much more to do than stay home and watch TV.

With so many people having to stay home during the Covid 19 why don’t you let subscribers rent movies at a discounted rate? I’m sure you would recoup your money with the increased rentals across the board. Thank you.

your not paying At&t for the rentals you are paying the networks and movie studios. AT&T passes the payment to them. They have also opened up showtime for free for all customers

It would be nice for AT&T to unlock all the premium channels for all of us stuck on lockdown at home during this Corona craziness. If not for me at least for others before I inevitably cancel my subscription which basically encompasses more infomercial & locked pay-per-view channels than actual good channels to watch...

Thanks,

T
