All I asked for was tech support. Foreign person stated that I will have to wait until tomorrow as she did not know what to do. My service goes up and I get ppl that don’t know what to do I am back home and want my local stations
Did you place a Movers order? If not then your service address did not change so you cannot get the correct locals. They will only change the service address with an official move, not simply by request.
Now if you had placed a Movers order which has been installed and account reflects the correct service address, then more info is needed; Models of boxes, which ones affected, what happens when you go to your locals, what zip code/county, etc.
I have for the last 10 years just called tech support to have my receivers pinged I take my receivers with me when I go to my winter home and then return to my summer place
The short answer is calling to change the service address upon request is no longer an option. This is only done with a Movers order going forward.
What used to happen is you called and they updated the service address and then send a refresh (what I believe you mean by "pinged") to the receivers to recognize the update. You can no longer do this.
The physical service address determines locals allowed, regional sports, and what taxes you are required to pay. Because of the risk of people leaving boxes at multiple locations, without deactivating/reactivating the appropriate ones, or claiming the wrong address to get channels or different taxes/rsn fee then they are subject to per Terms of Service and Federal regulations, the address now may only be changed with an official Movers order.
DirecTV was lax on this so AT&T made the change to ensure following the rules. In the end the service is intended for a single residential address. So the correction option is if you have a 2nd location that it has its own equipment and account. You then suspend each account as needed (max 6 months within a 12 month period).
Sorry but the option has been locked out for everybody. The requirement is each address has its own account.
If you continue going back and forth as you have been, then you will only get locals at one place through DirecTV. The other would need a regular antenna to get them the traditional way.
I get not the answer you want. AT&T has locked this down to make sure all are within the rules as intended.
Yes AT&T does more carefully follow the rules, even if not convenient for us. DirecTV was so lenient on this for so long that of snowbirds and the like are getting quite the surprise as it wasn't supposed to be allowed to begin with.
At best they might be able to do an override so that the service address matches the last official install. That way it would be for the official account service address.

You have to put in a move order to change your service address, could be free or $199.
