Grit TV

What happened to Channel 10 Grit TV on Direct TV? It's my husband's favorite channel and the reason we have Direct TV.

Channel 10 is a local channel that broadcasted Grit on their main channel most likely they moved it to a sub channel that DTV doesn't carry, you would need to contact the channel.

Anything in the single/double digits is a local channel. These are based on your Designated Market Area (DMA) determined by your address. When a local is gone, there are 3 main possibilities.

1. The owner of the channel moved it to a sub-channel (say for example 10.2). DirecTV for the most part does not carry sub-channels.

2. The DMA lines were redrawn and that channel is no longer in yours. DirecTV is forbidden by Federal regulations to provide local channels from outside your DMA.

3. DirecTV and the local affiliate owner are in carriage negotiations and the channel owner decided to pull the channel (as is their right) to leverage these negotiations.

Most likely it was moved to a sub-channel (Grit is on a sub-channel where I live). If so then you would need a regular over-the-air (OTA) antenna to pick up what is within range. The OTA option could help even in a DMA change if the broadcast is close enough physically to pick up. I highly doubt it is a carriage negotiation, unless there is a specific message on the channel indicating it.
