You would not connect them to the Directv receiver, you would connect them to whatever is providing your audio output, likely your tv. If that device does not have Bluetooth, you would need some sort of Bluetooth adapter that connects to an audio output.

You can’t. AirPods are Bluetooth and directv doesn’t have Bluetooth capabilities

I have a roku and I can connect to all channels available on Roku like netflix, but not to direct tv.

There is no DirecTV app for Roku. You pay for each authorized TV on the service by receiver/client.
Some channels have their own app for Roku and might let you log in with your TV provider credentials. Have to check the individual channel apps.
