how can i customize the location of closed captioning (CC)

is it possible 2 control where on the screen CC (DIRECTV Subtitles) is located?

specifically when i use PIP (picture in picture) and Side by Side format (places both DoublePlay channels on the screen) theres plenty of room above and below the picture 2 locate CC without blocking the picture.

the important point: TCM(256) will always put CC below the picture, but business channel FBNHD(359) places CC in the picture and makes it difficult 2 read both the CC and the stock market scroll info at the bottom of the picture. so i no it can be done. CC is reading the channel and adjusting the location. wats noteworthy is FBNHD (359) when it goes 2 commercial it alters the location outside the picture. when it returns 2 the program CC returns 2 the screen, so i no it can be done.

how can i force CC 2 locate outside the picture when the format is PIP/Side by Side, (a real long shot, is it possible 2 CC the second channel on the right?)

this is not a trivial request. we use DIRECTV in a business office, muted. and currently this isnt working.

Hi, @jwolfley.

We are happy to help you customize your closed captioning. At this time, you are unable to change the location of the subtitles. You can only change how you see closed captions on your screen.

You can change display options like the font color, background color, and font size. Learn how to do so within the link above.

If you would like any further assistance, please let us know. We are always here for you.

@jwolfley.

We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you. At this time the option to move closed captioning is unavailable. This is a function provided by the different channel providers.

Your thoughts have been sent to the correct department and will be considered for improvement. Thank you for taking time out to make us aware of your request, and allowing us to make the DIRECTV experience better for you.

I wonder why the closed captioning is placed in the top middle left area. It blocks too much of the picture. Why wouldn’t it be placed at the bottom like most apps/channels?

DTV has no control over where the CC is located.  DTV only sends you what the channel sends them.

If we are watching our direct tv stains in 2 different locations my mom needs closed captioning I do not.  If I turn closed captioning off on my TV will it also turn it off on my mothers TV in the living room?

No. Each streaming device controls its own closed caption settings. If you have further questions, please start your own new post. This one is very old.
