AT&T's agreements with the video providers do not allow for mobile devices to stream to large displays.  So: you can't.

You pay for each authorized TV on the service. As such, the DirecTV app does not support streaming/airplay/casting to another device. It should disable DirecTV's video if you attempt to do so. You don't get a free TV on the service.

Alternatively, some channels have their own individual apps (for phone and streaming devices like Firestick, Roku, etc.) that you login with verifying your current provider. This can give you some content streamed to a TV.

Neither of these were helpful, as it doesn’t explain why IPhone doesn’t work, but Android does.

Neither iPhone nor android should work but some customers just get lucky and it does work. It could be due to version of the android os and/or directv app. Even iPhones used to work.

The point is that neither the iPhone or Android device should work. The DirecTV app is supposed to block video if you are casting/streaming, etc. to a TV.

If it works on Android, then that is a technical issue. The reason it is not supposed to work is you pay for each authorized TV on the service, and mirroring from mobile device to TV would negate that.

Sorry but the actual answer is not the one you want. Mirroring from mobile to TV for the DirecTV should not work. Anytime it does, it is a lucky technical issue. Updates over time attempt to address the problem, and may become required to continue using the app so that people are not getting a free additional TV on the service.
