You could try side loading an APK for an Android Phone, but don't hold your breath. DIRECTV pays its providers a fee "per TV," and as such can't give unrestricted access to TVs.
The DirecTV app shouldn't be available on Firstick. They do not allow streaming on a TV as you pay for each authorized TV on the service since it is satellite TV.
If it is the old DIRECTV NOW app, that is a completely separate provider that is streaming only. It was rebranded to AT&T TV NOW because of the name confusion.
So if it is the DirecTV app, then that is an error as it should not work. But I suspect you are pulling up a different app.

There is a separate streaming-only service, which does go on devices like Firestick. It has gone through a couple rebrands so has caused some confusion. Went from DIRECTV NOW to AT&T TV NOW and now with the new co-owner it just became DIRECTV STREAM. This is a completely separate service from DirecTV (satellite).
