how to shut off severe weather alert function.. its annoying.. and un-needed
Suddenly appeared a one line weather info at bottom of screen and severe weather alert started showing at top of screen and annoying audio.. how to shut it off. I have beee thru every menu and button I can figure out.

if it's on one channel it's coming from the channel and Directv can't change it

I later watched a movie and it was gone, so was the threatening weather we had. woke up in middle of night and realized I had been watching "rescue 401' ,,, YUP on the weather channel.. Forgot WX ch has some programs that re not weather.

so there are no options to shut the alerts off, or mute them?? this is the second or third night in a row the alerts have frightened me back awake( i watch disney xd channel) I realize they are needed, but not if the weather isnt in colorado...

The channels send out the alerts so there is nothing DTV can do about them. Muting the TV/sound system is the only way.
