How to use Locast and make it stream on my TV?
I tried to use Locast as directed from the TV Promise site, and all it did was stream it on my phone. How do I get it to work on my TV set?

Hi @wkenzb4me,
Although Locast is an application that you can download through your DIRECTV service for an alternative option to viewing local channels, it is not a DIRECTV service, so troubleshooting must be done at locast.org.
Keep in mind that your receiver must also be connected to an internet connection in order to use the Locast application.
Thanks,

Exact same issue. We have lost WTHR (NBC) in Indianapolis and attempting to view using locast. Activated locast service but get a message stating "Please wait, loading channels" and then closes the app and goes back to previous directv channel. I have added Locast to my firestick and it works fine in Indianapolis. I am beginning to question is directv worth the cost if i keep losing my local channels. I would like someone from directv to help me understand why this is not working in Indy. Thanks

I am getting to the point where I'm considering "cutting the cord" but first will apparently need to buy an accessory device like ROKU or Fire Stick, or shell out more money for a new "smart" TV. The "Locast" option, according to DTV tech guy, doesn't work if you don't have a smart TV or accessory device. Considering we pay almost $200 a month for DirecTV we shouldn't have to screw around with this kind of crap!

So AT&T/Directv offer the Locast App through their interface in directv and even point to the TVpromise.com website that they own to use the App but doesn't support it working within the Directv interface. Directv/AT&T donated money to Locast so they could port the App into the directv interface but redirects all question to Locast. The app works on my Firestick without needing to contact them. If the app does not work in Directv, why does your TVpromise reference it? Why is it part of the Apps interace in Directv? I did not add this app to my directv interface and just showed up as an app i can use just like the weather app. Your accepted solution and official solution is not a solution. FYI...You cannot even access the App interface (weather, music, locast, Holiday Games) without being connected to the internet. So this is just a canned response without having an understanding of what Directv has offered.

I tried using the locast app as instructed: go to wen site and create an account; activate the account; activate app.
When selecting the app I get a half-transparent screen for about 5 seconds as it loads the schedule and then it goes away and I am returned to DTV.
I have tried restarting the box. I have the hr54-500 genie 3
How can I reload or rest the app? Is there something that DTV has to do?

Locast disappeared. It was your workaround for viewing NBC and CBS. Grrrrr. Why? Will it come back if TEGNA is not resolved immediately?

I can absolutely confirm that we had locast earler today. I used it yesterday to access my local Tenga owned ABC station.
I saw a post that it was no longer available on the (Uverse) Interactive page and sure enough, it's gone. I believe there was a mention of using locast on one of the notifications but I can't find it now either.
Talk about bad timing. If there's anyone that had the locast app on DirecTV, I'd like to know if you still have it.
Don't mess with old people. The older we get, the less "Life in Prison" is a deterrent.

I set up access yesterday using Interactive to Locast, so we could watch games today. Now Locast is not visible as a choice. It is gone. HELP!

I am in northern Virginia. I have Direct TV and TEGNA has removed channel 9, the CBS station. I loaded the Locast App and entered the code and it began to work. After I changed channels and wanted to go back, it required me to do the process again. That's a pain but I did and it won't let me back in. The message FROM DIRECT TV not locast, says "you have reached your streaming limit. you can only stream from one location at a time. To stream here, you must stop streaming at LR." I don't even know what LR is and am not streaming that I know of. Any suggestions on how to fix this. I want to watch the Alabama vs LSU football game tonight. Thank you

But after i changed the channel, it made me do the process again. But I did and got a message from DIRECTV that says I have reached my streaming limit. You can only stream one location. To stream here, you must stop streaming at LR. I don't even know what LR is and am not streaming there, at least not intentionally. This is DIRECTV preventing me, not Locast. So how do I "stop streaming at LR"? I want to watch the Alabama vs LSU football game tonight.

LR is probably your living room receiver

I too have Locast on my Direct TV. It is activated. I do not have NBC (Seattle area) some dispute $$ going on. So I load the Locast app it shows my missing NBC channels and when I select and go to watch...poof ...it just returns to the channel that was already playing on the TV. Why is this happening?

If you're going to disrupt NBC and tell me about Locast, how come it's not available in my area? (the tiny area of greater Atlanta/Fulton County). I knew I hated AT&T and UVerse for a reason, and this take the cake!!

Last week, Locast was available under the Interactive button. I tried to use it after being referred to on the sceen where the local NBC Tenga station is supposed to be. Locast is no longer listed when I press the Interactive button.
