Local channels not recording - instead switching to earlier national channels?

When we try to record a recurring CBS network program (e.g., NCIS, Amazing Race) on our DirecTv - it is on a Local Channel 8, say at 8pm.

Instead of recording the requested show (e.g., Tuesdays at 8pm on Channel 8), it tries to record the same network show on the CBSe channel (390) 3 hours earlier.  We don't have CBSe390 in our package, so that recording fails, but then it doesn't try to record the requested show at 8pm.

The only way we can record CBS recurring shows is to set up fixed manual recordings.

Does anyone else have this problem?  If you were able to fix it, how?

Lots of questions. Few answers. It won't record the later showing becauuse it thinks it has recorded the earlier showing (even though it  hasn't). The problem is the DNS channels aren't handled the same way as regular channels and so none of the obvious things apply.

DTV DVRs will not record the same program for 28 days.

Want to bet???   When I set the Manual recordings for these local channels, I am getting 2 and 3 concurrent recordings.  Ok - it may not be the same "show" in DTV's terminology, but they all look alike to me.  I have checked and double-checked the "Recording Manager" listings and tried to make sure anything that was a duplicate was removed, but we still get multiple recordings.

Too bad I can't get just one valid recording of the local channel by "show" instead of a bad recording of an unavailable channel and 2-3 recordings for each manual setting to work around the problem.

Back to sloppy code.

If you set a manual recording by channel and time, you should only get one recording.

That would definitely be our preference, but we have ONE Manual recording set for each of our local shows (checked and double-checked - I even ordered all recordings by day and time, so I wouldn't miss one).

We still get two (or three) identical recordings - both start at the same instant and end at the same instant (we just saw it last night and I went to the end of the second recording and verified it froze exactly at the same point as the first).

All these issues only started around early November 2020 - some software "upgrade" at DTV clearly introduced several new bugs at that point.  We never had problems with local channel recordings before then.

This only happens on the local channels.  This has been happening since the problems originally started

Ours just started doing the same thing. I’ve been recording Greys Anatomy for years and now it shows in my DVR, but I can’t play it because “it’s not in my package”. So ridiculous. I have missed weeks of the shows I normally watch. Ready to switch to a different provider.
