Longhorn Network

i currently have DirecTV Stream with the regional sports package, but the Longhorn Network is not available to me because i live in New Orleans (it's only available to Texas subscribers).  if i should switch to the satellite service, would that channel then be available through the regional sports package?

Regional Sports Networks (RSNs) are based on where you live. Changing TV providers does not change the market in which you live.

The Sports Pack may boast over 35 Regional and specialty sports networks, thereby getting channels out of market, but the professional games are still blacked out. It is for getting regional events, college sports, or your in-market RSNs if you are in a package below Choice. It does not override market rules, so Longhorn would still have blackouts for you.

Hi @lhitetx1. Thank you for reaching out to us.

We understand how important is for you to receive the channels you like and we can check into the options for you.

At this moment Longhorn Network is available for DIRECTV satellite customers that live outside of Texas, it's included with our PREMIER package or the SPORTS PACK.

Let's take a look at the DIRECTV packages, and let us know if you have further questions.

We are here to help.

Catalina -- thanks for the info.  Cox Cable in New Orleans does carry the Longhorn Network, so it's clearly not a blackout issue.  and since Cox carries it, makes sense that DirecTV satellite would also.  my understanding is that DirecTV Stream initially did carry it for all areas,  but eventually limited it to Texas subscribers in order to reduce the number of subscribers they had to pay ESPN for. so for that service it was strictly a financial issue.

anyway, good to hear that i have an option to Cox!
