Lost channels for area code 73521
For over a year now you have not made a deal with our local FOX channel and now our local NBC channel. You suggest that we pay a streaming service to get the channels. No one in this area code lives close enough to pick them up on an antenna. This is getting ridicules!!! Why don't you just pay their price and pass the expense onto us in this area code. It would be cheaper on us then paying a streaming service! I have talked to several of your customers in this area and the agree with me. This crap is causing us to miss our football games...

Because DTV averages the cost of the locals into the all of the channel packages and I doubt everyone in your DMA would want to pay way more for 2 channels

We're sorry you're missing your local channels, @kratzt. Rest assured, we’re working around the clock to restore them and resolve this situation as soon as possible. In the meantime, let's meet in PM to explore available options for you. Diego, DIRECTV Community Specialist

First, how do I PM you.
Second if I have to pay for streaming to get these channels why should I keep DTV.

There should be a box with lines in it next to the bell icon if DTV sent you a PM/DM on the top of the page.

I don't want to pay more for your locals. That is the simple answer.
Locals are not itemized and charged for your specific area like RSNs or taxes. They are averaged into the base cost of the packages. So Nexstar raising the costs for your locals raises the cost for everybody regardless if they get those channels or not.
You may be willing to pay more, but not everybody else is. Too bad Nexstar cannot just up the fees enough to charge you directly. Then only Nexstar customers would be affected.
All TV providers go through carriage negotiations. Switching to streaming would not be a permanent solution as they are not immune. And Nexstar in particular is one of the worst offenders as they are the largest (or almost the largest) owner of local affiliate stations. So thank your local owner for demanding TV providers pay them more which means customers pay more.
