Marquee Network in our package, unable to get channel

We got DirecTV for our dad, who is in assisted living, because he wants to watch his beloved Cubs.  We have verified he has the correct package for the Marquee network, but when we go to 664 it says he doesn't have access to the channel.  This has been an ongoing issue since the network launched.  The equipment has been refreshed and reset multiple times.  Several calls to tech support have been less than helpful.  Due to Covid restrictions, neither my family or a tech can get in to look at things and work to resolve them. One call last summer to DirecTV did get someone who was interested enough to try and help. and she was able to get something in their system changed to solve the problem.  He was able to watch 2 games, the next day things reverted to no access.  When we try the Marquee Roku app and enter the DirecTV credentials we get the same thing - not subscribed.  Our dad is now 96 and his patience has worn out.  Made another call today to DirecTV support, was sent to 2nd level support which consisted of a muffled call that the agent didn't try to resolve.  She asked for my phone number to call me back, then requested I be the one to disconnect.  Her call center stats seemed to be more important than our issue.  An hour later, no call back.  Can anyone point me in the right direction to try and get this resolved for my dad?  Thanks.

Being in Choice or higher isn't the only requirement. You also have to be in their market as well. Double check www.directv.com/rsn to see if you are supposed to get the channel in the first place. If it doesn't list it then you are out of market and can never get the Cubs on that channel and would need the MLB Extra Innings instead (in-season games only).

Also check to see if any games are on a local channel at that time. Even if in-market, occasionally locals get the rights to a game. Local overrides Regional.

Does he have (and pay for) a separate DirecTV account or it provided by the AL facility?

I had a relative that was in an AL facility with the same level of DirecTV for all residents.  There was no way to add channels.

Hi, He lives in Illinois. We got him a separate DirecTV account and dish specifically to be able to get his games since he would be in-market.

There have been lots of discussions about Marquee and who gets it. However, one thing is certain. Unless you are in the cubs market, you won't get Cubs games even if you have marquee. The games will be blacked out just like other RSNs.  If you want the cubs, you will have to have the MLB Extra Innings package.

He is in the Cubs market, and had the Cub games up until the change from CSN to Marquee.  That isn't an issue.  DTV has confirmed on multiple occasions that he has the correct package, and we know other people in the area who have the same package and get the games.  His particular account seems to have an issue that isn't allowing him to get the games, and we've had no success in getting it resolved for more than a few days.  Even if the games aren't being aired, Marquee has other program that should show up.  The channel itself isn't working for him.

According to this, https://www.marqueesportsnetwork.com/providers/,  zip 62864 is not in the marquee home territory.

When we did all this last year it was in. We checked it all before making the leap.  Sheesh. He's 4 miles from the county line.

Unfortunately sometimes the leagues redraw the market lines. And the RSN may have required a smaller coverage area.

So unfortunately your dad is out of market. TV provider (DirecTV or otherwise) cannot change that.

On the plus side I do see the RSN lookup page finally has a internal scroll bar when an area has a lot of RSNs to list. So those at the bottom don't get cut off anymore when searching.
