Media Share Set-up

Total newbie here.  Set up internet access to HD DVR and have access to TV Apps.  I need a step-by-step instruction sheet on how to share pictures and videos.  Any suggestions/instructions would be appreciated.

Sorry, I should provide more information.  I am running Windows-7 on my laptop.  I have an HR23/700 DVR.  When viewing Network information, DIRECTV Media Share Renderer and DIRECTV2PC Media Server are both listed.  I have read elsewhere that when the MENU button of the DVR is pressed, I should see 'Manage Pictures (?)' listed as one of the options, but I do not see any such item listed on my list.  So as I said previously, any help would be appreciated in finding a way to display pictrues from my laptop to the DVR to the TV.

You need to set up your computer with Windows Media Player allowed to share with the Directv Media Share Renderer.  The menu entry will be "Music, Photos & More".  Tversity is often more functional than Windows Media Player.

Thanks for the reply.  How do I share Windows Media Player?  I do not see anything to allow options to be changed on Media Player.

Open Windows Media Player, click the "stream" link and allow everything.  Then open network and sharing center under Control Panel and allow everything there.  Disable your firewall and do a red button reset of your HD DVR and the Music etc option should show up.

Thanks.  When I try to allow everything in Media Player, a screen comes up that asks me to name my media library and is looking for 'Show devices on:' to be filled in, but does not allow me to enter anything.  When I select 'Allow All', the only option available is 'Cancel', the 'OK' is greyed out. Is that okay?  I'm going through the red-button reset right now.

TRhere should be a drop down for "local networks" and "all networks".  Select local.

DCD, Unfortunately, the 'Show devices on:' dropdown is blank.  There is nothing in the initial screen or on the dropdown.  There is no local or all option available.  Any ideas as to what I don't have set up correctly that would cause this?  Thanks for your help.
