Message says: Tuner Activity: Your live TV Tuner was taken by TV Room at 9:53 (uses current time). Shows all other tuners unavailable

When we try to change a channel (either inputting the channel number or making a selection through the 'guide'), we get the above screen message.  After giving us the time the tuner was taken, the message says:  To tune to 'channel 6',  press an option below.  To return to 'channel 4', press exit.  The screen shows one option we can select which is:  My Location / Channel 4 / Use this tuner.  When select 'use this tuner', I get another screen that tells me the tuner is not available.

We cannot get out of that screen unless we 'exit' - which takes us back to the channel we were watching previously.

To change channels, I have to go to 'recorded movie' then 'change channels' - then it will go to the channel I select at that time.

How did this happen?  How do I get out of this situation?

Your HR54 has five tuners. If all three Mini Genie's are tuned to a live channel then your HR54 has only two tuners that it can use. If it's recording a couple of different shows, then zero tuners are available.

What DVR model do you have? I'm guessing it's one of the Genie DVR models.

If it's a Genie, then that message means that one or more of your Mini Genie client boxes is using tuners from hour Genie DVR.

What DVR model number do you have?

What Genie Min Client boxes? How many?

Yes, we have Genie DVR.  Model HR54-200

Genie Mini model:  C41W-100

Genie Mini Model:  C61W-400

Genie Mini Model:  C41-500

(Thank you for responding.  Apologies for the delay in getting answers to you.)

I would replace a Mini Genie, simply the C41 (without the 'W') as regular boxes do not have a wireless version , with an HDDVR when you have a free upgrade. If not available anymore, then through a 3rd party retailer (such as Solid Signal) you could get an HR24 (though at the one-time lease cost of $199). That would have its own 2 tuners and 500GB recording space so that it doesn't steal capability from the Genie.

Think of it as currently all TVs are connected to one box, so has limited options to go around. Fortunately you have the regular Genie line which allows proper receivers, not just Clients.
