Mets-Phillies blacked out on EI
Why is the Mets-Phillies game blacked out today? I'm in Denver. It's not on any local channel. The gamefinder didn't find it. I called and they couldn't/wouldn't do anything about it.

Yes, I understand the blackout rules. But there was no reason for this game to be blacked out in my area (Denver). It was not on any local channel, the MLB network, or anything else. This was clearly a mistake.

Please know that games are blacked out to protect the teams, the sports leagues and the stations that purchase the rights to broadcast individual games. DIRECTV does not arbitrarily institute blackouts, but simply follows the restrictions set forth by the leagues or their rights holders.
If further help is needed or if you have any additional observation, please let us know.
Thank you for contacting DIRECTV.

Using a general zip code for Denver Colorado, both the Mets and Phillies are out-of-market. As such the game would normally be on MLB Extra Innings during the season, provided your physical service address and equipment are correctly in Denver.
If no local channel, even any that DirecTV doesn't provide you, didn't have the game, being blacked out sounds like an error. Normally you would want to do a red button reset and refresh service authorizations www.directv.com/refresh to ensure everything syncs up.
You could also reach out to MLB as they have implemented additional blackout rules this season. Wouldn't be surprised if that caused some issues this year.

Do you live in Denver? Is that where your account is based?
If you're visiting Denver, blackouts may still be based on your billing zip code.
If not that, it sounds like a glitch.
(I'm not a DirecTV subscriber, but I do know something about sports blackouts.)

Blackouts are based on the physical service address/zip code, not the billing. Such as a person with a vacation home (snowbirds and the like), can have both accounts sending the bill to the same address (the main home).
Just wanted to be clear as physical home providers can have a separate service and billing address where online providers tend to just have the billing address.

Yes, I live in Denver, it's my billing address, and where I am physically located. Other Mets games have not been blacked out this season, this was the first one. The game was not on any local channel in Denver. There was absolutely no reason for it to be blacked out. I was able to stream it on MLB.tv, and that follows the same blackout rules as EI.

I live in Colorado Springs and so far this weekend both Phillies Marlins games have also been blacked out. I confirmed the Flyers were not blacked out on NHL Center Ice last night, so I believe that confirms there is not a billing address glitch. Anyone know why the Phillies seem to be consistently blacked out on MLB Extra Innings this year for those of us who are out of market?

And to clarify - the Phillies blackouts only seem to be on DirecTV - not MLB EI on the internet.

Seems like a lot more games are blacked out this season for some reason. I am in Idaho and the Phillies/Marlins and Cubs/Rockies are blacked out today.

Thanks for the info notthis. At least I’m not the only one…. What is strange is these games are not blacked out using the mlb EI streaming app. Seems to only be DirecTV.

Hello @notthis. We sorry to hear that your missing your favorite games.
We understand how important it is to have access to the best of the programming. DIRECTV and MLB are actively working to understand the reason behind this blackouts to provide a resolution, and get all your favorite MLB games back. We hope we can restablish your subscription once this situation is figured out.
In the meantime, you can check the schedule of the games based on the area where you live. Fox, ESPN, and some Regional Sport Channels have come to an agreement with the MLB league to broadcast some games on Saturday and other specific days. As usual, you can take advantage of your local channels to watch your in-market games.
