MeTV
I live in the Dallas/Ft Worth area. Until today, I was able to enjoy MeTV using channel 55 with my DirecTV service. I had seen the notation on screen that it was about to move, but did not make note of the new channel number. Where do I tune in for MeTV now?

Trust Directv help to be of no help at all. Yes, directv can probably not do this on their own. It very much depends on how the channel gets to directv. If it's on a cable/fiber link the source station needs to change the signal they send to be 55.2 (and change the guide data also),

DTV has to have a contract with that channel to carry 55.2.

@Hamiltonpl57 That is not DTV’s decision to make. They must carry the channel they are contracted to carry.

So we purchased an antenna and it is great!! There are so many channels that we were not receiving on DTV that are even better than ME TV

@wombtune I've used an antenna for years I get about 60 over the air channels an antenna is the only way to guarantee you'll always have locals

Sandblaster - true - they have to carry whatever their contract states. But that is the question isn't it? Were they contracted to carry MeTv or just whatever Channel 55 gives them? Do you know? It's just a question. And simple for DTV to answer. Instead, as I have said and has been posted on this thread - "their technicians are working on it".
If it's a contract issue then their Contract folks might be working on it but not their technicians. Standard dunning response apparently.
We are big boys and girls here and can handle the truth if they just tell us. And they have - they have no plans to carry anything but whatever Channel 55 gives them. I think that is finally the truth here.
Yes any recommendation on a good HD antenna would be appreciated. I can use that until I terminate my service when my contract is up. Thanks in advance.

Whatever is on their 55.1 channel and I doubt DTV is working to fix anything as there is nothing to fix, as stated before DTV doesn't carry sub channels.

Shannon - Correct - I read this on another forum this past weekend regarding subchannels and DTV. So yeah that makes sense.
If the support person on the phone had just said to me "I am sorry but at this time DTV doesn't carry sub channels." Then case closed. But they didn't. They told me the problem had already been reported and that their technicians were working on it.
So I was hoping that maybe this meant they were reworking a contract to allow them to broadcast 55.2 vs 55.1. Haha. Well at least I was hoping...
Oh well. Do you know of a good HD antenna that actually works? I haven't tried one in a while so maybe they are better now.

DirecTV has a carriage agreement for local channel 55. The channel owner moving the content of METV to a sub-channel doesn't mean they now give that to DirecTV. They still must carry 55 with the updated programming.
This is just like if the channel owner switched some shows around. DirecTV doesn't guarantee the content, which is the same with all TV providers. They give you channel 55 for as long as they have a carraige agreement.
So there is no solution they could have in place as METV was moved to a channel they don't have. DirecTV isn't in the market for sub-channels as it is not just yours in question, but hundreds nationwide. Yours does not outweight everyone else's in the country. Unless satellites in orbit get replaced with those of higher channel capacity, this is not expected to change.
The agent over the phone claiming technical issue when it was just content moved by the channel owner was inexcusable. If they don't know the answer then they should have at least said so and probably ask their supervisor if they had any further info.

On a side note, with all this talk about METV, I looked up what channel carried it in my market only to find it was on a local channel main feed that Directv does carry but I never watch. All these customers complaining about losing METV and I have access but never knew it.

Hello, @wombtune. Thank you for reaching out, we are here to clarify this.
MeTV is a sub-channel that is no longer carried in our programming. Some programmers may decide to stop broadcasting the channel. This affects all TV service providers, because the channel is no longer on-air. DIRECTV works hard to notify customers of upcoming programming changes as early as possible.
We appreciate the time you took to share your comments and feedback about this.

METV moved to a sub-channel. DirecTV does not carry those sub-channels and there is no indication of this changing.
Using a regular over-the-air (OTA) antenna for the free broadcast or changing providers for that one network are your options.
