Mirror tablet to tv

How do I mirror the DirecTV app from my tablet to my tv without WiFi?

If you can't use a wireless WiFi connection, then you'll need an HDMI adapter to connect your tablet to your TV.

If you're talking about the DIRECTV (satellite) app, not the DIRECTV stream app, then connecting the tablet to a big screen via HDMI will not always function, but should function in any case where Wi-Fi casting would have worked.  Not sure how limited that is these days.

I’ve done it with both my IPhone 7 and IPad 5th generation using an Apple Lightning Adapter (HDMI port on TV to device) with some success, and also with my Samsung Galaxy Tab A tablet using a Microsoft Wireless Adapter ( hDMI on TV to USB port on TV), but often it will jut not cooperate.

I’m new to this but have quickly learned that DirecTV does not want to share any helpful information and the kids working at the local stores are clueless.  I’ve just discovered how to go into settings, choose DirecTV as my provider, and add network apps.  This is being used at a remote cabin without WiFi but with decent cell service. I’ve also seen directions on this forum on how to get local channels. I won’t know how any of this works til we go back there in a few weeks. My AT&T unlimited data plan seems to be fine with the amount of data I’m using.

Does anyone know what might happen if I upgrade my phone or iPad? I did try out the free 7 day fubotv offer which was great but I don’t want to pay $65 a month for a few tv shows.

Hi @lindaphaby, thanks for reaching us.

Thank you for your prompt response, indeed is necessary to have both devices connected to the same network, also these devices must have the feature to mirror.

Hope this works, in case you need anything just let us know.

The DirecTV app does not support being casted/airplay to a TV. It is not supposed to work. You pay for each authorized TV on the satellite service. Since mobile streaming casted to TV would circumvent that, and potentially have an account sharing issue as well, then it is not allowed as violates the Terms of Service.

You want to watch on a TV then get a receiver/client for it and pay for that TV. If not at home, then that TV is not allowed in the first place.

The DTV satellite mobile app doesn't support streaming to any external devices like a TV.

@lindaphaby, thanks for replying back

To mirror the DIRECTV app from a tablet to a TV, both devices are required to be connected to the same network, either Wi-Fi or mobile data in order to mirror successfully.

Really?  But the app doesn't support mirroring?
