MLB Extra Innings Blackout
Direct TV service is in Louisiana.
Would like to watch TX Rangers vs. NY Mets. Why is the NY feed blacked out? I might understand the TX feed being blacked out with Louisiana being close to Texas... although, not even close to what used to be blackout zones of 50 or 100 miles...
Oddly, this happened with the Houston Astros games as well - NY vs TX and the only feed available is the Texas feeds.
And what I think is crazy is I can hear the audio for the NY feed if I don't mind watching the game in a tiny box along with whatever games are actively going on, which could actually be 7 other games.

Hello @rls11575, we're here to clear things up.
Except for certain MLB regular season and postseason games or in certain MLB Club home television territories for which MLB may offer in-market subscription services, all live games will be blacked out in each applicable Club's home television territory.
In addition, note:
1. Home television territory blackout restrictions apply regardless of whether a Club is home or away and regardless of whether or not a game is televised in a Club's home television territory.
2. U.S. Clubs may be subject to blackout outside the United States based on their home television territory as determined by Major League Baseball.
Regular Season U.S. National Blackout: Due to Major League Baseball exclusivities, live national broadcasts and/or streaming of MLB events and select live national broadcasts and/or streaming of MLB games, will be blacked out in the United States.
Certain MLB games and events, such as the All-Star Game and select MLB Postseason games, broadcast nationally by Fox and MLB Network may be available for live-streaming via http://sm.att.com/20ff8a1c to those subscribers who are also eligible customers of a participating cable or video service provider ("Authenticated Access"). http://sm.att.com/20ff8a1c subscribers who are not able to authenticate with a participating cable or video service provider, as determined by the applicable provider, will be blacked out from live streaming of these nationally broadcast games or events.
If you think you have inaccurately determined your blackout restrictions, you may call MLB Customer Service at 866.800.1275

Just because you are physically close, doesn't mean you are in-market. Check the lookup to be sure what teams you are allowed. Your in-market RSNs are in Choice and above.
Old lookup: www.directv.com/rsn
New: DIRECTV Satellite TV Channel Lineup - Local, RSN & National
(make sure to click on the Regional sports tab)

Thank you both...
However, I still don't understand why the NY Mets SNY broadcast is blacked out in Louisiana.
Both your comments seem to suggest that broadcast SHOULD be available.

We understand the importance of enjoying our favorite games at any moment.
Please keep in mind that these Sports blackouts are stipulated by the leagues, associations, and networks that purchase the right to broadcast individual games. Due to these broadcast rights and legal arrangements, certain games might not be available.
Let us know if there is anything else we could help you with. We are here and ready to assist you.

The regional markets are set by the teams and leagues. Typically, a New York team's market is their own State (with possibly some overlap near the border). That is especially true of YES (for the Yankees).
If not in-market, then MLB Extra Innings (in-season games only) is your option. You have no way to change what you are allowed, other than moving to within market.

You are out-of-market for the mets so you won't get their broadcast.
