MLB Extra Innings vs Sports Package

LONG time Directv customer - with both the sports package and MLB Extra Innings.    I know the MLB Extra Innings are channels 700+ and the sports package channels are 600+.  If I drop MLB Extra Innings, will I still be able to see the Red Sox on 628, and Mets on 639, and Royals on 671-5?  Or do I need both packages?

Thanks....

MLB Extra Innings provides games out of your home market. Your regional sports network will only provide games within your market. Any out-of-market games will be blacked out on those channels.

So, I get all the games at BOTH the 600's and 700's because I pay for the MLB Extra Innings.

Thanks!!

Hello @ace, thanks for your prompt response and accurate information. @anitab5, thank you for reaching us to clarify your questions about your programming. We are happy to be able to provide you with this information.

In this case you are able to enjoy of the channels 628, 639, 671 and 675 on the PREMIER package. Also, if you want you can get the channel details on the channel lineup
here. With both MLB EXTRA INNINGS, and Sports pack, you can get over 30 regional sports networks (RSNs) - covering sports from around the world, both in- and out-of-market, as well as college games from the top conferences. I friendly advise you to keep those packages to continue enjoying all games, and content.

Please let us know how it goes using that information and link.

Not quite.

Games in the 600s are blacked out if they are out-of-market. The Sports Pack allows you other regional events and college sports. And if you are in a package below Choice it is a cheaper way to get your in-market RSNs.

If your only reason for the Sports Pack is professional games, then it is a waste. You get your in-market RSNs in Choice and above without the Sports Pack.

Thanks ... but the only in-market team is the Royals - which I do watch!  However, I'm a baseball fan, so I like several other teams as well - some for the players, and some for the announcers (who I remember fondly as players <G>).

If you want to get games other than Royals you'll need MLB Extra Innings. That's the whole point of that package. Even though you might get those regional sports channels (600's), MLB games will be blacked out for out-of-market teams.

RSN's are for in-market games. You don't need the Sports Pack as you get your in-market ones as long as your package is Choice or above.

The MLB Extra Innings is for out-of-market games. You cannot get those on the RSNs as they are blacked out on those channels for anyone out-of-market.

The Sports Pack is NOT for professional games. It is for college games and some regional events.
