When will NBC be back online? This is ridiculous. I’m sick of hearing this (Edited per community guidelines) recording every day. My DIRECTV bill is a small car payment get the channel back or send out free antennas if you can’t do that.

Please see this thread for info about the blackout.

FYI, you can let DIRECTV know that your zip code has lost a local due to Tegna demanding almost double what they were prior. Visit this link to get a $10 credit on your bill for the inconvenience. You can partially pay for an OTA antenna with this money.

Hi Jjones111, we understand your frustration. DIRECTV is working with Tegna, the owner of these local broadcast stations, to renew its local stations at the right value. Please check TVPromise.com for updates. Armando, DIRECTV Community Specialist

Your NBC affiliate will be back whenever Tegna allows it. Nobody knows when the negotiations will be complete until it happens.
If you log into your account online (or call if you have a redirection issue between the AT&T and DirecTV sites), they have been offering a $10 credit as a courtesy. Absolutely nothing guarantees or entitles us to any specific channel so they are not obligated to provide any compensation but have chosen to do so.
NBC is not the equivalent of your car payment. You have many other channels so watch them. If you cannot live without a single local channel then plug in a regular antenna and get the free broadcast. Pay TV is about all the channels that have no other broadcast option.

Guess the last one was about 3 years since December of 2020 is when Tegna previously did this.

I committed to DIRECTV based on what they were showing at the time of the agreement. Therefore they should be honoring that agreement. But a simple fix, would be to just provide another Fox and NBC area station, so customers could watch, record etc their favorite shows and sporting events. Don’t give me that FCC bs. Those laws can be changed or bribed now just like most of our government agencies. Spend our money, provide us the services we are paying for.

The agreement states that channels can change at any time. This is because they do not own the channels and cannot force any of them to stay.
It is not a simple fix to provide another area station. Per Federal regulations they are not allowed. The local channels have it set that DirecTV may only provide locals that are in your Designated Market Area (DMA).
Owners of local affiliate stations (Tegna in this case) have the lobbying power that succeeded in having the TV industry set this way. Though it is not impossible for those regulations to be changed, it is very unlikely and certainly not anytime soon.
And unlike you, DirecTV works within the rules. So if you think bribing is ok than provide several tests with your local law enforcement and even a judge.

Juniper, you are quite the S A**. I didn’t say anything hateful to you or about you. But bribing, (PACs) DNC etc. happens every day. I offered a solution and you returned with hate speech. Good job, good night. Oh and Merry Christmas. 🎁

Bribing is not a solution. You are wanting DirecTV to violate the law and Federal regulations just so you can watch a little more TV.
Trying to solve an issue with an obvious criminal act so I provided a response to hopefully bring you back to a realistic perspective.
And though that part of my reply was rather curt, it was not "hate speech". I would suggest being careful where you accuse that term as it means something significantly different.
If any negotiations (above board, not bribing) can be done to change the situation it would be nice, but as it stands locals (affiliate stations and the parent networks themselves) are in a stable position of power.
For many I suggest using a regular over-the-air (OTA) antenna. Get the free broadcast to protect you during negotiations. And that works the same no mater what pay TV provider you have. May even pull up sub-channels not carried or locals from a neighboring DMA as regular antenna is only what is in range so has no way to follow DMA lines.
Otherwise, find another channel to watch as your life shouldn't revolve around a single channel or two.

You need to ask Tegna that as they are the only ones that can return the feed to DTV.

Nobody knows the answer to that. Tegna (the owner of your local affiliate station for NBC) and DirecTV are still negotiating the next carriage agreement.
Everybody is waiting for the negotiations to complete. Only then will your answer be known.

Tegna pulled the channel away to get a higher rate paid (which eventually comes from our bill).
So you say shame on DirecTV because they are not caving to that higher cost? You are fine with your bill going up that much more?
