Network stations

I live in SW Washington State and only receive Network stations from Oregon. With everything going on and up coming elections I want to receive Network stations from Washington State. My Congress Woman Jaime Herrera Beutler responded to my issue stating that there is a bill called the Satellite Television Extension and Localism Act that address this issue. How do I go about getting network stations from my home state?

Thank You,

Roger (Edited as per community guidelines)

Your  Congress woman is misinformed somewhat  about the EXPIRED stelar act. The act allowed for distant network services for eligible people which gave either the  east coast (new york) or west coast ( LA) feeds of NBC, CBS, fox and ABC NOT for whatever locals you wanted.  Your dma (designated market area) is determined by your locals and physical address and regulated by the fcc.

The STELA Reauthorization (STELAR) Act allowed people who were so rural with no locals to get East/West coast (NY/LA) feeds as a supplement. Now most (sadly not all) customers are within a Designated Market Area (DMA) of locals.

The networks lobbied Congress and won, so as of June 1, 2020 the STELAR Act expired.

However even if that was still in place, it would not help you. Per Federal regulations, DirecTV may only provide you what locals are in your DMA. Check www.directv.com/locals to verify what you should be getting. If the channels match, then a regular antenna is your option as DirecTV cannot override Federal regulations. If they don't match however, then I would verify your physical service address (not mailing address) and county are correct on file.
