New Tegna Dispute Status?

My local NBC station is already running banners warning that access will be lost to DirectV/ UVerse subscribers on Nov. 30. This appears to be a new carriage dispute between ATT/DirectV and Tegna.

We all know how this ends-both sides will blame the other and in the end our rates will go up , just as they did after the Nexstar dispute.

Does anyone know if DirectV has put out a statement yet?  In my case (Cleveland WKYC) I just need to make arrangements for next Sunday Night Football.

Thanks…

Only your local NBC affiliate can remove their feed to DTV and they can choose not to remove it.  You will know on the 30th as DTV rarely comments about ongoing negotiations. Since all providers have this problem the only solution is an Over The Air(OTA) antenna connected to your digital TV.

Thank you for the responses- much appreciated!  My particular situation makes using an OTA antenna difficult, so I’ll probably do a free trial to some other service and try and ride out the dispute.

I am surprised that DTV has not chosen to offer packages without local channels. Passing the carriage dispute increases onto all customers is just driving more users away.

in my market, DTV is already $50 more expensive than YouTube TV for virtually identical channel package. I don’t see how the DTV business model survives long term if they don’t offer more segmentation.

Juniper thanks for the feedback. Yes I agree DirecTV still offers some benefits over internet only streaming such as YouTube.  Actual customer service and equipment are not free. We are staying as customers for now mainly because my family members much prefer the DirectV dedicated remote and interface.

But convenience is only worth so much. My personal view is that the greed of companies like Tegna and Nexstar are killing the business model for satellite and cable. Hope I’m wrong.

When sat and cable end then Tenga and Nexstar will start on the streaming services no TV providers are safe, then of course Tegna and Nextstar will kill themselves cause there will be nobody left to buy their programs

It is the corporations that own those station that handles negotiations with DTV and all other TV providers.

Do you have the Station UNVR  or NBC Universio for Uverse it is 192

if you don't mind Spanish Broadcasters you can view the game there

A Company that pulls this stunt during the Pandemic is just Wrong

Tegna did this same (Edited per community guidelines) during 2020.  Right when the Steelers/ Ravens game was delayed.  Nexstar did this crap during the Womans World Cup and the Gold Cup.  for some reason too the games were blacked out on the HD version of the Local Spanish station.  But on the local station none HD you could still watch.  The Plug was pulled by Tegna
on December 2nd 2020 when the Ravens
played the Steelers
somehow on that day I could still watch it online
thru Uverse
but after that it was pulled
As in the Local NBC Affiliate
It was back by December 20th
when the Browns played the Giants on SNF.
The 1st Sunday night game unavailable on NBC
after the Ravens/ Steelers
was KC vs Denver
The Next week it was Buffalo vs Pittsburgh
It was hilarious watching the games
on NBC Universio
on Direct TV that staion is 410

Direct TV Channel 410  Uverse Channel 192 for Sunday Night Football, and Soccer matches on NBC Affiliates affected by Tegna's Greed!!!!!!   Again this happened in 2020 around the same time of year The Station was pulled just in time for the Delayed Thanksgiving night game between the Ravens/ Steelers it stayed off for the Chiefs/ Broncos and then the Bills/ Steelers.  Was back when the Browns played the Giants.  in the Nexstar Dispute.  Fox8 was off the air from the Beginning of July during the Gold Cup thru the Ohio State/ W. Kentucky game then back on after that.  Also with the NFL Games.  the Prime Video matchups and the Sunday or Monday night games they are replayed later on NFL Network which we just got back on Uverse after years of it being gone and also have the Redzone station mainly because I have the HD Tier on my subscription.  What Sucked more then these Disputes with the Greedy Local TV Station Owners was all the games in Various Sports being Bogarted by this streaming service or that one.  MLB, MLS, Big 10 College Football,  Fox Deportes is not as good as NBC Universio   Because a lot of the College Football and NFL games are not on Fox Deportes.   So again if you have Uverse go to Channel 192, Direct TV 410.

On November 5th Direct TV increased the price I pay for services.  On December 1st they stopped providing access to ABC and NBC stations in Jacksonville FL.  I understand Direct TV will not be issuing customers a reimbursement for failure to provide these services.  So I still have to pay for these local stations and the service to record them even though I'm not receiving the service.  However, Direct TV is no longer paying Tegna for the content.  So essentially, Direct TV will improve their bottom line.  Seriously, how could they raise prices when they knew they'd be reducing service in a month.  I've been with them for more than 20 years and I love the convivence and picture quality.  However, if this results in another price increase before 2025, I'm out.  If they don't resolve this before Jan 1st, I'm out.

You need to log into your DTV account.

Our ATT invoice was just made available and I see the $10 bill credit for the blackout.  Now that the blackout is entering it's second month, another credit should be made available.... correct?

This statement on https://www.directv.com/support/article/000098366 seems to indicate so, yet I see no indication of this on either AT&T's nor DirecTV's site.

"If you currently have a pending blackout credit on your bill, you’ll need to wait for the next bill cycle to request a new blackout credit."

@Juniper

"It is not obligated as channels can change at any time (they don't own the channels) so there is no 'should'."
I understand that they are not obligated. I didn't imply that they were. A waiter may give you a slice of pie on your birthday though not obligated.

"And a local or two would not expect be $10 of your bill, so the courtesy credit you already got is expected to cover more than a single month's worth."
What is that monthly per subscriber amount?

"However, not impossible they could do another one. Just seems unlikely."
Kind of like they won't offer another one, but they might?

"No channel should be worth $10 for a single month."
"worth" is the value one is willing to pay.

I'll simplify my question.

Define what is meant by:
"If you currently have a pending blackout credit on your bill, you’ll need to wait for the next bill cycle to request a new blackout credit."

I had a "pending blackout credit" on my bill because I applied for one two weeks ago.
Now having received my bill, I have entered into "the next bill cycle" which will allow me to "request a new blackout credit"?
