NFL Sunday Ticket leaving DirectTV it's official. What about my contract?
I have a 2 year contract with DirectTV Satellite that began just a couple months ago. I switched from Dish to DirectTV for the sole reason that they offer NFL Sunday Ticket.
Since I entered the contract with NFL Sunday Ticket, I should be able to cancel my contract as soon as Sunday Ticket goes away with no penalties. Is this correct?

Cost shouldn't be double, though it would not be a small difference. The 1st year is a discounted price. That shows on every month of your bill. The order confirmation from DirecTV would have broken down the discounts you were receiving and remind you that NFL Sunday Ticket is free only for your intro season.
As long as you took the time to read your order confirmation and reviewed at least the first bill in full, then there should be no surprises there. As a following reminder, you get a renewal notice on the June bill with the 1st of 6 installments for the NFL Sunday Ticket (assuming they still have it) in July. As you have until the season starts in September, that is plenty of time to opt out of it if you don't want to keep it that season.
Yes, you only pay for the remaining months of the service agreement ($20 x months left). Nobody in this thread said otherwise.
Check the following 2 bills to verify if it was applied and didn't later reverse. Since that was not a valid bill correction, since documentation showed different then what was said over the phone (hence important to read no matter what is "promised"), management could stop the credit. They don't want their agents throwing money at the customer.

If NFL Sunday Ticket is not renewed for the following season, it does not void your service agreement. As TV providers do not own the channels, there is no guarantee that any specific channel or programming will always be there.

Wrong, you entered into a contract with Directv, not the NFL Sunday Ticket. So if you cancel you would have to pay the cancellation fee which is $20 a month x's how many months you have left on your contract. When you entered into your contract with Directv they have a clause in the contract that says channels are subject to change and because of this they have the right to charge you the fee for cancellation.

An excerpt from The NY Times story states “YouTube struck a seven-year agreement for Sunday Ticket, one of the people said, a long-term deal to give Google time to build up its subscriber base. DirecTV also agreed to long-term, multiyear deals.”
So apparently there will be some presence on Directv. No details of what that is, though. It’s probably a continuation for sports bars.

Well it is what it is I guess. I also found out that after the first year the cost doubles for DirectTV and NFL Sunday Ticket is no longer free. They got you by the balls.
I went to get my $250 in rewards today. There was only a $150 card for me. My agreement over the phone was a $100 and a $150 card totalling $250. Customer service was great. She said your details about the rewards should be in the contract. There was nothing about any rewards in the contract. So she gave me $100 credit on my bill.

No they told you up front 2 year contract. And everybody knew this most likely was the last year Direct TV would have Sunday Ticket. If you cancel you have to pay the remaining months on your contract.

Only 20 a month if you cancel, not the whole contract
