DIRECTV satellite does not include ESPN + (a separate pay streaming service.) This is a public forum and we are customers just like you, so don't complain to us. The only way to get ESPN+ is to pay separately for it and use a streaming device like a Roku or Fire TV or Apple TV (just to name a few.) Sign up here: https://plus.espn.com/

When given the option, choose either to bundle with Disney Plus & Hulu or just subscribe to ESPN plus.

ESPN Plus is a streaming-only service that has nothing to do with DirecTV.

So thank ESPN and their owners for this.

DTV as a "customer" purchase the "package" via the NHL as they do with the NFL.  They have the rights and no other "dish" provider can offer it.    When we purchase the NFL package from them we know what games are going to be broadcast via the networks and we will not get and they are shown there accordingly.  AND if it is not in our network range it is shown in our NFL package, hence you never miss a game.

If the NHL is going to start subbing games out to different PPV services then I would think it would be reflected in the pricing DTV passes on to us as the consumer.

Not going to get all the games as we did in the past with the NHL package then drop the price.  Ray Charles could see that.

You say you don't work for DTV but sure sound like it.....

Unless I'm mistaken, NHL Center Ice has always been available on many providers as an optional add-on. If you have DirecTV, you're not paying for Center Ice unless you voluntarily choose to.

Starting this season, the equivalent package is also available on ESPN+.

I'm not sure what your complaint is, @MRREDOC

? Hell yes I choose to pay for center ice who is saying I'm not ????  Have always had the package.  And the packages are not "equivalent".

Will try one more time to get it thru your head.

Center Ice last year =  all games

Center Ice this year = is minus games that can only be seen on ESPN plus at SAME price as last year.  Red Wings two games back to back last week.

Bottom line NHL sold out for mo $$$.  SO to watch all games you must purchase BOTH packages.  Center Ice did cut price to try and run with them but ESPN plus schedule was a lil short when it came out.  As I can see there are no hockey fans posting to this but thanks anyway.

Hockey fan or not, you don’t need to complain to us because we are customers just like you, we pay those too!! If you want to watch those games, subscribe to ESPN+. Conversation here is done...

NHL having an ESPN plus option doesn't change the cost to DirecTV and thereby to us. DirecTV cannot force NHL to give them more games then they are authorized. Not just NHL, but other networks are pushing their "Plus" streaming services. Supposedly this is because TV providers are fighting harder against the continuing price increases.

You say you don't work for DTV but sure sound like it.....

Sorry but I am just a customer as this is a public forum. Those who are actual employees will have tags as such (moderator, the "help" team, etc.). Though those with just "employee" as I understand are on their personal time, not in an official capacity.

Detuch254  maybe your name should be something else...I can think of 2 right off the back.  Conversation done?  Then get lost.....later.

Point was/is  how sports is now splitting packages that have LONG existed and intern making more money.

What rock you under.  Yes these services negotiate sports contracts and it certainly affects the price they pass on to their customers?  DTV's SUNDAY TICKET deal with the NFL expires after the 2022 season.  So once again "streaming" and pop up channels will affect the market and we will pay more IF you want to watch it.

Also, and please don't comment 254 IF YOU don't watch because we don't care.  You will see on DTV that home/away channels are not always present as the once were.  Certainly not explained when you subscription came up and heck ESPN + did not even have their full schedule out when the season started.

Bottom line look for price increases across the board with the addition of all these so called plus channels.

And Juni please don't get butt hurt because I said you sound like DTV....geezzz sorry.

I made a simple factual response to clear up a misunderstanding. There is no emotion behind it. Because of the earlier statement and your comment about "hurt", it is my point of view that you are perceiving things in this conversation that don't exist from your own emotional standpoint. I am straight forward with my responses as I prefer clarity. I strive to avoid anyone needing to "read between the lines".

ESPN bought exclusive rights to a certain number of games. Instead of putting them on ESPN or ESPN2, they're putting them on ESPN+. This is totally their right.

Welcome to 2022.

Folks (Edited per community guidelines)?  My god.  Yes totally their within their rights, buy both packages if you are (Edited per community guidelines) and the other bull crap that is getting posted.

My only point for Gods Sake:

DTV and NHL Center Ice package was presented at the beginning of the season at a "discounted" price for re-subs.  One was lead to believe this was a discount for returning customers.  No mention of games being bought out by other streaming services and all.  Kinda misleading for us hockey fans who have had a subs every year, none of which include you guys.  So relax with your thin skinned comments, they can do whatever they want and go watch whatever you watch which is certainly not hockey.  And yes THIS IS THE LAST YEAR OF THE DTV CONTRACT FOR NFL SUNDAY TICKET.  So I hope Fb won't be jacked next year.  New bids and contracts we be submitted and worked out.  With the amount of games versus hockey it would be impossible to hide games as they did with hockey.  Done Geeez.

  1. Also there were services offering al carte and you could order what you wanted to watch.  Living on west coast want a philly?  Order up.  Want all Detroit order up.  Shut down by the big boys which was stupid.  They could have charged whatever they wanted and people would av paid.  All bout the bengies baby.
